Publisher's Summary

Evan: They tell you that a parent's love is all consuming. I never put much thought into it. Not until the minute I heard her take her first breath. That little girl is my world. I'd do anything to protect her. My ex signed over her rights, and her family vowed that my daughter didn't exist. Now that she's gone, they want my little girl. They're trying to say I can't give her what she needs.

McKinley: I've known Evan all my life. Our family's farms run parallel with each other. He and my brother Aaron have been best friends for as long as I can remember. What they're trying to do is wrong. He needs my help, someone he can trust, and I'm more than happy to do it. I volunteered without hesitation. I should have thought about what it would be like to have our lives intertwined. I should have thought about what would happen when our time together ended and how my heart would feel when I had to walk away.

Super Sweet

To be fair, it's not the best written story ever, but if you're tired of manwhores and irresponsible man-boys, give this book a try. Evan is a stand up guy and I really liked McKinley. This is a slow burn book, and I like that. Frankly, there aren't enough of those out there.

Listened to this in one sitting!!

Any additional comments?

This book was a real feel good about the unspoken love between two people. It shows that there can be a love that is unspoken between two people. There relationship starts out as two people needing each other for one reason then turns into a completely different one for each other. This story is about pushing your love aside for the betterment of the child and what is best for their life before all else. LOVED this book i wish there was a second one with the continuation of there story. The only thing that i didn't like is that the author skips over what i thought would have been really important moments in the two mains lives that would have helped show there unspoken love for one another. This book is great for a drive in the car. Not a lot of intimate moments that turn your face red but unspoken gestures to show the purity of there relationship.

9 hours and 27 min?

For the record... I made it to hour 2 and gave up. I had high hopes for this story, saw the reviews and got excited. I'm apparently in the 8% because here I am with this review. The narration was painful and the whole thing was irritating. Worst fake southern accent in history and the story was just.. I don't even know honestly. It rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe it was just the narration because the plot seemed like a great idea but then it had far too much dialogue that was extremely unnecessary. Honestly, I wish I had more to give on it but it was hard to put my finger on just one thing. I'm very surprised this had so many good reviews.

I Wanted to Get Excited

This was a sweet and unassuming romance that doesn't offer much excitement. I will say that Kaylee Ryan deserves a much improved ribbon as I was at least able to listen to this one to the end. The plot and the characters are still simple and bland. The premise was good with lots of potential it just lacks passion.

The narration is marginal at best but their voices were listenable (is that a word?). I enjoy Joe Arden's voice so that was motivation to finish.

This maybe worth a reduced price but not a credit. Since I've already purchased the next book in the series, I will listen to it.

Sweet single dad romance

Would you listen to Southern Pleasure again? Why?

I would absolutely listen to it again. The innocent love and fight to protect his unborn child melts my heart

What was one of the most memorable moments of Southern Pleasure?

My favorite moment is when Evan is talking with Lexi and making confessions to his infant

Wonderfully Mushy!

You know those books that are just Mushy and the characters are so prideful that they can't say what they really feel. They are well this is on of those books that I couldn't stop smiling. You will truly enjoy this book!

Evan and Kinley!

Life as Evan knows it is about to do a 180. Not only is his girlfriend pregnant but she doesn’t want to keep the baby. Evan convinces her to carry the baby to term and once she is born she can relinquish all her rights and he will raise his daughter alone. Although nervous and scared he knows this is the right thing to do.

Kinley is not only his best friend but her brother is Evan’s best friend as well. She has always had feelings for Evan so when she finds out he is about to be a father she is willing to do anything to help him prepare for his new arrival. Once his daughter arrives she loves her as well so when she is threatened Kinley has a solution which brings her and Evan even closer but will they be willing to make the leap from friendship to love?

These two are perfect for each other. They both love each other but Evan doesn’t feel it’s fair to tie her down and Kinley thought he just wanted her to stay because he needed her not because he wanted her. This is a wonderful story about friendship, love and family. The narrators did a great job and the southern accents make it feel like you were right there with them.

Wow!

I enjoyed the story line. I loved that it was different with the Daddy wanting to keep the baby. The "baby momma" death confused me. I felt it was forced to bring her back into the picture, when there was no need to. Can't wait to read Aaron's story. Can we please stop with the narrators adding accents? They are always dreadful and over the top. There were a couple times I wanted to stop listening because of the accent.!Only from the female narrator.
