Publisher's Summary

With his laughing eyes and wild, rakish good looks, Lord Rannulf Bedwyn is a hard man to resist. To Judith Law, a woman in need of rescue when her stagecoach overturns, Rannulf is simply her savior, a heroic stranger she will reward with one night of reckless passion before she must become a companion to her wealthy aunt. Imagine Judith's shock when the same stranger turns out to be among England's most eligible bachelors, and when he arrives at Harewood Grange to woo her cousin. Certainly, they had made no vows, no promises, but Rannulf never did forget his uninhibited lover - nor did she forget that one delicious night. And as scandal sets the household abuzz, Rannulf proposes a solution. But when Judith refuses to have him - in love or wedlock - Rannulf has only one choice: to wage a campaign of pure pleasure to capture the heart of the woman who has already won his.

What the Critics Say

"The Bedwyn siblings are the most fascinating romance protagonists to come along since Jude Devereaux's Montgomery brothers in the 1980s, and Balogh's sensuous Regency-era romances set the standard. They are not to be missed." (Booklist)

    "Something For Everybody"
Would you listen to Slightly Wicked again? Why?

Probably. There's something for everybody; romance, deceptions, sex, mystery, revenge and maliciousness, familial love as well as jealousies and discourteous behavior toward family members, haughty class distinctions, a beautiful niece/cousin treated like Cinderella... plus .

What was one of the most memorable moments of Slightly Wicked?

When the Duke's brother comes across a wrecked stage coach in the rain. Muddy roads make it impossible to set the stage aright so taking one passenger on his horse with him he sends help back for the others. Naturally he chose a pretty girl to ride with him. He pretends to be someone else, as does she. They spend 2 nights together before the rain lets up. While he is gone to rent a carriage to take her to her supposed destination, she leaves him by taking a public stage before he gets back.

What about Rosalyn Landor’s performance did you like?

Difficult question to answer, as she always gives a great performance.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The lonely and mistreated poor relative, Judith Law, moved me to feel pity for her. Regardless of her plight in life she puts a smile on her face and tries to make the most of it.

    Any additional comments?

This is my second book in the Bedwyn Saga Series and both were well worth a credit. I enjoyed them both and look forward to more.

Very enjoyable but a bit over the top plot wise.
    Historical morals no doubt accurate.

"Ahhh, each one of the Bedwyn series is a gem."

I love these characters! I'm not sure which is my favorite.... probably the duke with his quizzing glass and eyebrows.

    "Loved every Minute"
Have you listened to any of Rosalyn Landor’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Another perfect narration. Rosalyn Landor is my favorite narrator for historical romance. She interprets the story perfectly, puts the right emphasis on each word in exactly the right spot so the meaning is perfectly received whether it is to bring laughter, sarcasm or heartfelt sorrow. She uses several different voices that are very distinct so you never doubt who is who. Her reading never takes you out of the story and I can honestly say I am "in" the story while it is being read. Not many narrators can do that to such a level. I am not overstating, she is brilliant!

    Any additional comments?

This was another delightful listen by one of my favorite combinations of Mary Balogh and Rosalyn Landor. I have already downloaded the next in this series. There is a bit of intrigue in the story, stubbornness and compassion in both leads and their famillies and simply a delight. I highly recommend anything by Mary Balogh

"An Enjoyable Addition to the Series"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Probably, especially if the friend were a Balogh or Bedwyn fan.

What other book might you compare Slightly Wicked to and why?

The other books in this series.

What about Rosalyn Landor’s performance did you like?

I'm a fan of Rosalyn Landor, and she did a great job here.

    Any additional comments?

This second book of the series was much more engaging and appealing for me than the first, which then increased my overall investment in the Bedwyn saga. This book is more of a straight-forward story with stereotypical characters and traditional plot twists, but it was written well enough that it all worked, and I enjoyed listening to it. If you're looking for an easy listen of a historical romance, this will do. If you like a little more depth to the protagonists and anticipation from the story, some of the other Bedwyn tales are better for that.

"Dreadful narration of a lovely book!"

Ran null is 28, so why has the narrator voiced him as though he were a 60+ pervert? The Rannulf voice is really sleazy, creepy and OLD!!
He is supposed to be a 'Jack the lad', young, vibrant but is voiced like a dirty old man. The rest of the narration is dodgy too - it's put me off the other Mary Balogh books narrated by this narrator! AVOID!!!
    A really disappointing experience.
