Can love survive the bright lights of fame?

A popular DJ at the hottest station in Nashville, Charley Layton is doing what she's always wanted to do: living in the heart of country music. Charley puts her career first and relationships second, but when a charismatic stranger in a black cowboy hat invites her back to his place, she decides to give herself one night of no-strings fun.

But Dylan Monroe isn't a no-strings kind of guy. Charley is beautiful, brainy, and brassy as hell - the kind of girl he's always wanted. When his record label books him an interview on Charley's show, he's determined to find out why he woke up alone, and when he can see her again.

With Dylan now the most eligible bachelor in country music, Charley doubts their fling stands a chance, but she's willing to try. Dylan dreams of fame, but he also craves a life offstage with Charley. Can he convince her that both of their dreams are worth chasing, and that love is still possible, even in the spotlight?

bit boring

Pros: very little drama, ok friend relationships.

Cons: prescriptive writing, insecure and overly emotional female characters, shallow character development, overly drawn out sexual descriptions with no connections to the heat of the moment. just blah.

Roughly 2 hours in the middle of the story could have been cut out and the story would still have been the same lack luster, overly long story.

Had potential, but only OK

I basically liked the characters and the story was OK. However, there are plot devices you could drive a Semi through. If you don't mind suspending your thought processes, you won't have a problem.

Sweet Southern Charm

I mostly enjoyed Rising Star and thought that for this to be my first read by Terri Osburn it was pretty good and I definitely enjoyed her writing. I liked Dylan a lot and thought he was a sweet country boy with a lot of manners, who knew how to treat a woman. He was a real genuine nice guy. I liked the music side of the story pretty well as well.

I really enjoy listening to Megan Tusing. She does a great job with accents and I loved her narration in Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart. The southern accent of Charlie is spot on and I love how she talks when Charlie's character is getting sassy. Love. Love. Loved her. Even the parts from Dylan's pov. She is a wonderful job narrating this audiobook.

My only issue with this book and why I didn't rate it higher is because the heroine Charlie was OTT and dramatic as hell. Everything was a big deal and turned into one huge leap into assumptions and insecurity. She didn't want to date Dylan because she is afraid of being like her mother who gave up on her dreams for a man and got pregnant with her and then there was obvious insecurity when Dylan goes on tour and she was just overly dramatic and annoying.

But other than Charlie's dramatics I did like Charlie and Dylan together. Their relationship was very easy and cute as they got to know one another and went on cute and simple dates. It was a nice set for this series. Now I can't wait to read the next book.

Rising Star

Entertaining and Fabulous!
This was a delightfully fun love story of two really great people. Both Dillon and Charlie were strong characters who truly complemented each other. The story was engaging and the narrator was excellent!!! Loved it!!! Hope this becomes a series like ardent springs!!

Great characters and setting until....

This book and narration were great with terrific wit and such until the implausible miscommunication melodrama. This took away from a 5 star rating quite significantly. I could only this "Oh, come on!..Really?"

I was disappointed by the handling of that part. It was really good until....
