Publisher's Summary

Sometimes the next best thing is what you’ve been looking for all along….

Beth Chandler has spent her whole life pleasing others. She went to law school to make her grandparents happy. She agreed to marry her workaholic boyfriend, Lucas, to make him happy. And, despite her fear of boats, she took a ferry to see Lucas’s parents just to make them happy.

While suffering through a panic attack on the ferry, Beth meets a tall, sexy stranger who talks her down from her fear - and makes her heart flutter in the process. Soon, she has a new reason to panic: her gorgeous, blue-eyed rescuer is Lucas’s brother, Joe. But could she ever leave her fiancé for his own brother…even if Lucas is more focused on making partner than on making their relationship work…and even if Joe turns out to be everything she never knew she wanted?

Being fully alive!

As this story concludes, the song lyrics: ..."Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all" come to mind. A beautiful story in a beautiful setting with a mix of people who want to enjoy the beauty of life and deep human connections, while interacting with those who haven't yet discovered that vision of life.
Love the idea that sometimes life can get messy on the way to wonderful. Just cherish the gifts, be true to yourself, be as kind as you can - and let the rest take care of itself. A relationship that gives both people room to be themselves is of the essence. This story is about being fully alive. You'll be glad you spent some time here!

Enjoyed this very real depiction of year round Island living. Interesting characters facing believable obstacles in life and love.

Narrator ruined this book

Would you try another book from Terri Osburn and/or Amy Rubinate?

Terri Osburn - yes, if it was narrated by someone else.

How could the performance have been better?

I actually thought it was Siri from the iPhone at first... and then assumed it was a computer program. I don't even know how the narrator gets her voice to sound so monotone and computer-like! I couldn't get past it - the only reason I was able to finish the book is because I really liked the story. From now on, I'll ALWAYS play the audio sample before I purchase.

Happy

Just the kind of mindless romance to keep me occupied without a lot of sex descriptions or vulgarity...fairly mild...enjoyable...just what I need right now...

A Donut of a Romance

Like having a donut instead of whole grain toast for breakfast, sometimes it's fun listening to a light hearted (but not mind-numbing) romantic drama. Yes, some things were obvious from the beginning and the end was not a huge surprise. However the island setting, humor, and a variety of supporting characters including a lovable dog made "Meant to Be" an enjoyable escape from reality.

Quick & entertaining

Although I was expecting something more or a stronger plot. I enjoyed the story that was told. Then later if and when I was to pick up the othe books from this series, I would have some reference.

Enjoyable Story

3.75 Stars for me!

This is a moderately slow burn forbidden romance between our h, H, and her fiance (who is the H's brother). The Fiance, who has not committed to a wedding date, blows his girlfriend off for work all of the time and doesn't consider her wants leaves their two week vacation at his families place on day one. Work is his passion and the h is a complete doormat that only wants to please her fiance.

Sparks fly between the H and h but they know they cannot act on it. Throw in a bitchy ex-gf and a greedy land developer and you have the external friction for our MCs.

I did enjoy the story although I skipped a bit forward during some of the overly dramatic moments. The fact that I may have skipped a total of 10 minutes means that I did not want to miss anything important to the story.

There is descriptive sex towards the end and lustful thoughts throughout.

There is some emotional cheating plus a shared kiss before she broke up with her fiance (not really a spoiler as the MCs are destined to end up together.

There is plenty of language but it is not more than normal conversation.

1 st book on a series

read the second one first and it was really good. bit surprised to read some of the same bits in both books. Will read the 3rd one now, to see if she uses the same parts again.
