Publisher's Summary

The grave is one wrong step away.

Having narrowly averted an (under)world war, Cat Crawfield wants nothing more than a little downtime with her vampire husband, Bones. Unfortunately, her gift from New Orleans’ voodoo queen just keeps on giving - leading to a personal favor that sends them into battle once again, this time against a villainous spirit.

Centuries ago, Heinrich Kramer was a witch hunter. Now, every All Hallows Eve, he takes physical form to torture innocent women before burning them alive. This year, however, a determined Cat and Bones must risk all to send him back to the other side of eternity - forever. But how do you kill a killer who’s already long dead?

Jeaniene Frost, New York Times and USA Today best-selling author, lives with her husband and their very spoiled dog in Florida. Although not a vampire herself, she confesses to having pale skin, wearing a lot of black, and sleeping in late whenever possible. Aside from writing, she enjoys reading, poetry, exploring old cemeteries, spelunking, and traveling - by car. Airplanes, children, and cookbooks frighten her.

Love in vein: listen to another Night Huntress novel.

    "The best villain yet"

The Night Huntress series gets better with time. In this sixth installment, Cat finds herself in a fight with a ghost. This is no ordinary ghost, oh no. This is a very nasty, bad ghost who is right up Cat's alley to vanquish. This story starts exactly where the last novel left off. Indeed, the very last words of book five are the start of book six. As always, Crispin (Bones) is there for the merriment as is most of the characters we have come to love, save one conspicuous absence. Fabian and ... is more central to this story and I find that delightful. I wonder how that will affect follow on novels.

At this point, I've gotten used to Gilbert's narration of Bones, I am less annoyed. I am breaking down and grudging giving her a good job on this one. In order to understand this book, you have to read book 5. Don't try to skip it. You can get away with not reading 1 thru 4, but book five is a must or you'll miss most of 6, you'll be saying 'huh?'

I'm looking forward to the next one. Although, the next one looks like a 1/2 novel called Home for the Holidays. Should move pretty fast. I give it a big thumbs up.

    "Addictive Series"

I think the Night Huntress and Night Huntress World series by Jeaniene Frost are the best of all the differemt vampire series in the market (Sookie Stackhouse, etc) . this particular book, One Grave at a Time, features an evil ghost who turns out to be a formidable opponent for Cat and Bones - and all their friends. The story is entertaining and introduces some new characters (Elizabeth, Tyler and Maddison) who I think we will see again. Not as many sex scenes ini this book, which suits me. There was enough passion without being "over the top". There is also a mystery about Dawn's replacement as chief of the special military unit which captures bad vampires. I expect to see that mystery explored in the next Night Huntress Series. I hope to see a new book (number 3) in The Night Huntress WORLD Series and I would like for it to be the story of Ian or Vlad (who are major characters in Night Huntress). They need a love interest too, like Spade and Mencares got in the first two Night Huntress World books. .

If you want to read the two series,it is best to read books one through four of Night Huntress series and then books one and two of Night Huntress World series, and then back to books five and six of Night Huntress.

The writer has the ability to tell a great story and the narrator is excellent. The only criticism about the narrator is her voice for Bones, which is not a sexy suave voice - but after listening to his voice in eight books, it has now become lovable. The way Bones says "Kitten" is intoxicating.
I would not want his voice to change now that I have come accustomed to it.

    "Great listen!"
    Any additional comments?

I can't get enough of Bones and Cat! The adventures the couple find themselves in are non-stop exciting, intersting, and attention grabbing. This story is well crafted with great world building. The stories can be listened to/ read independently from the others in the series but I recommend starting with book one.

    "Loved it!"

I've loved each book in the series. I love the narrator and her portrayal of the characters. The sarcastic comedy keeps me laughing, while the romance is wonderful and not the least bit sappy.

    "another good story"

at the end of each new story in this series I wonder what on earth the author can come up with to make the next installment interesting and new, and every time she doesn't disappoint.

ghosts, supernatural tracking and the doosch bag government agent I knew had to show up sooner or later, makes for another cracking story.
I wonder if doosch bag will be the baddie in the next book....

    "Not my favourite"

This isn't one of my favourite so far. The story is okay but not great, and it lacks the page turning quality of the previous book. Don's replacement is just tedious and adds nothing to the story at all. I also have to say that Gilbert's narration is gradually getting worse. Some scenes are just cringe worthy to listen to, and for some reason she decided to completely change the way she voices Bone's part way through this book. Still like the series and will get the next book, but if it's like this one I won't be bothering with the next.

"Good but have read better from Jeaniene Frost"

Love this series so much. Lots of passionate scenes between the main characters, and brilliant reading from Tavia. The main baddie is a ghost in this one... it's not really my thing. I preferred the other books in the series. Still awesome to hear about Kat and Bones and co. though. But I did drift off a couple times rather than being totally enthralled by it.

"Good but not as good as the rest"

I enjoyed this book but it just did not engage me in the same way the rest of the series has. Have the characters run their course, author run out of story lines for them or was I just not in the right frame of mind. I will leave it up to you to make up your minds?
