Publisher's summary

WITH THIS RING, I THEE DEAD.

Just as Jane Jameson’s unlife seems to be stabilizing, fate sinks its fangs firmly into her butt. Despite her near-phobia of wedding planning, her no-frills nighttime nuptials to her sexy boyfriend, Gabriel, are coming along smoothly. That is, until she turns a fatally wounded teenage acquaintance, and the Council pronounces her responsible for the newborn vamp until he can control his thirst.

Jane’s kitchen barely holds enough Faux Type O to satiate the cute teen’s appetite and maintain Gabriel’s jealous streak at a slow simmer. As if keeping her hyperactive childe from sucking the blood out of the entire neighborhood isn’t enough to deal with, the persnickety ghost of Jane’s newly deceased grandma Ruthie has declared war on the fanged residents of River Oaks. Suddenly, choosing monogrammed cocktail napkins and a cake she can’t even eat seem downright relaxing in comparison.

Tensions inside the house are growing… and outside, a sinister force is aiming a stake straight for the center of Gabriel’s heart. Most brides just have to worry about choosing the right dress, but Jane fears that, at this rate, she’ll never make it down the aisle for the wedding all nice girls dream of.

Cute, but losing its originality

Let me start by saying I really enjoyed the first two books in this series. I like Molly Harper's wisecracking heroines. They take risks and don't take themselves too seriously. And Amanda Ronconi's narration is great; she has just the right tone, especially for the women. However, the basic premise of the plots of these last two books just don't hang together as well as the previous two novels. Gabriel seems tohave had some major character transformation, and he's just not as exciting as before. It seems like Molly may be a little tired of the characters too. Her most recent vampire story related to Half Moon Hollow(Driving Mr. Dead) seems fresher and more alive than this novel. And that makes me a little sad, because I like Jane and her friends, and don't want them to go away, just become a little less predictable.

Good Series

Where does Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Overall I loved this series; it's light, funny, and an airy read. The only thing that I disliked was Jane's lack of a spine. She never stands up for herself and allows herself to be constantly abused (both verbally and physically) by the people around her. It became very nerve grating by the end of the series, and I all I wanted to see was her standing up for herself and not allowing people to walk all over her constantly. She's a freaking vampire for goodness sake!

Love this Series

What did you love best about Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors?

Jane as a bride - then Jane in parenting mode brought on by a teenage vampire.

What other book might you compare Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors to and why?

This question always stumps me....

What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Amanda knows how to bring all the emotions to the story with each character - it is like watching a movie in my head.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes - though hard to do while at work - so I did have to break it up to before work and after. My family didn't get to speak to me much.

the final Jane Jameson?

If you could sum up Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors in three words, what would they be?

A fangfilled finale

What did you like best about this story?

It gave a wam sense of completion.

Which character – as performed by Amanda Ronconi – was your favorite?

Grandma Ruthie

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh

Any additional comments?

I would love to read more novels set in this background. I very much enjoyed the novella Driving Mr Dead.I loved Jane and her dysfunctional family but next time I want them to be background characters. I would hate their lives to be sufficiently upheaved to be the focus of another novel.Amanda Ronconi is the perfect narrator, with her warm Southern drawl and Molly Harper spins a lively yarn; witty, biting and charming
