Religious overtones and emotionalally damaged protagonist

I liked this book enough to read it through and give it four stars, but got tired of the long road to good mental health Blue, whose story this is, needed. Yes, that's realistic, but painful to read. Additionally, I wish I had known Ms. Toomey wrote for a Christian audience. Nevertheless, the story line is a good one and by the time the e d comes the happily ever after is satisfying.

Great Value: Hours per Credit

This is an acceptable buy, providing a lot of listening for the single credit. You'll want that, because by the third book you will have the speed cranked up. By the end, I was listening at 2x speed.

Why? Because "Blue" is so darn whiny. The second and third books lose a lot of action, focusing more and more on the family dynamic. Problem is, the hero ("Blue") just keeps doing the same thing over and over. There's lots of whining and crying, with little character development.

Worth buying, but be ready to turn up the listening speed.

Great Dystopian Trilogy for the Money

Any additional comments?

This was a great trilogy. The characters had great personalities and were performed well. The story was different, which I really liked. I would recommend this to anyone who likes dystopian society books.

AMAZING NARRATION! Great story

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved Blue. She was funny and awkward. She was great. Her character really added to the story. I Know this is a book about her and her crazy life but not completely. It's a great book about all of them.

Have you listened to any of Madeline Mrozek’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have never listen to Madeline Mrozek's performances before. I was actually disappointed that she didn't have any more titles that were appealing. SHE IS AMAZING! This book benefited from a talented person like Madeline. The book was strong and original but the narration added the cherry and sprinkles to the top of the cake.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I am not good with tag lines. However, if it was made into a movie I would watch it!

Any additional comments?

The first story was hard to complete. I got better about 3/4 of the way. STICK WITH IT... you will be rewarded with a fantastic and original story. Loved this trilogy and really sad to say good bye.

Excellent story. Well-rounded characters.

I had a bit of a hard time following, to begin with. Once the futuristic world was set in my mind, though, I didn't want to stop listening. I will be passing this along to my teenage daughter next, for a listen. I just know she will enjoy it, too.

Decent narration of a great trilogy

I read these (and many other books by this author) first, so I did already have my own idea of how the characters would sound. While Blue definitely has her flaws and insecurities, I personally would not have voiced her nearly as whiny as the narrator chose. Her emphasis was also odd in occasional phrases. But she was clear spoken and did the story justice, especially with so many international accents across the three books, which were distinct, intelligible, and fairly consistent. The books themselves are great. I highly recommend looking further into the prolific writing styles of Mary E. Twomey (aka Tuesday Embers or Molly Maple). Definitely something for everyone and all well-written!

One of the best

I’ve listened to many audiobooks before and this is by far one of the best series ever. This is my second time listening to the series and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time. The author put together a wonderful story that kept me interested but for me it was the narrator that really put the audiobook over the top for me. Very talented. I would recommend this book to everyone.

Pretty Good Collection, Great Narrator

Overall, I enjoyed this collection. It's a fun YA with likeable characters. The narrator did an AMAZING job of capturing the personalities, accents, and relationships between everyone. The romances that developed were anticipated, but the way it all came together was enjoyable. Probably a little too "picture perfect" for others, but sometimes it works. I saw a couple other reviews stating they had to turn up the playback speed to get through the end. I did the same thing half way through book 2 until the very end! I felt like there could be so much more developed beyond the dialogue from the characters. The concept is what intrigued me, but it was lackluster in my opinion. There is a lot of continuous whining from the main character, which is somewhat understandable, but it gets old very fast. A lot of the same comforting scenarios from the brother, boyfriend, and friends. I would be very interested if there was a movie or series that came of this, but I'm afraid there just isn't much to run with if there is no creative freedom.

Why isn’t this a movie yet?

I’m barely halfway through the first book, and I’m confused as to why I’ve never even heard of the series. It’s really amazing so far. AMAZING. Very unique.

NO! Whine Whine

What made the experience of listening to Volumes of the Vemreaux Complete Collection the most enjoyable?

The great story line.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that it was a sort of Vampire theme but it didn't dwell on the blood sucking...well actually there is no blood sucking...you need to listen to the books to find out what they do instead. I also like Dystopian story lines

Which character – as performed by Madeline Mrozek – was your favourite?

I liked Blue. She whined a lot and shouted No! at the drop of a hat but that wasn't the readers fault

Any additional comments?

At times I wanted to give Blue a good shake.
The third book dwelt on the family relationship instead of getting on with the story. If I was reading the book I would have been flicking through parts of this.

Disappointing character arc

blue started out being a strong female character, and I was so happy about this. By the third book she was a whiny victim, unable to make a decision, or be seen as a separate person.

Wow!! what a fantastic futuristic world

WWIII has caused the world population to change, so that those who caused conflict could be isolated. The various blood groups were the trigger for the segregation. This and the fountain of youth, which stopped aging and adding an additional 140 years to those who bathed. However, on those of B class blood could reap the benefits, with the draw back of having lose of taste and requiring blood products from the O class group to avoid anemia. The A class group were relegated to tasks that they appeared to not become sickened from, and had become slaves, which could be brought and sold, in some parts of the world.
The prophecy declared that there would be a savior, that would kill the predator, and remove the tyranny, thus freeing the world.
This saga tells of the hell those of A blood, the way wards, grew up in. It shows the love of a brother for his sister and younger brother, and how he hide a secret from everyone,.
The secret is discovered,;luckily by men who not only did not exploit it, but could help nurture and enhance it, and in return help was given to them to return the one that they had thought last to them.
The final book shows that the perception of the predator was wrong and something far worse and powerful was yet to be faced and annihilated, for the world population to truly be free.
