Now, for the first time in months, she's back on vacation where she meets Curtis Copeland who is working as a ranch hand on Circle O. The last thing Marlene wants is any form of relationship; she has a full life already and it's not on the farm. Curtis has different ideas though; he's waited 10 years to finally have Marlene and fate or destiny has delivered her to him. Yet everything seems to be working against them. Marlene's family is dead set against the relationship and Curtis harbors a secret that can tear them apart. Whether they will be able to overcome the obstacles to be together is a question neither Marlene nor Curtis can answer.
Not quite a second chance romance, but a childhood crush that comes to life. This book was a joy and completely entertaining. Marlene goes home to her family ranch for vacation. She loves her family, but at times finds them completely overbearing. She meets Curtis, and they fall into an easy attraction. Curtis has secrets though, and is not ready to reveal them to Marlene. Of course, the over protective brother and father make life difficult for the ranch hand, but Curtis is a tough one. Along with the spunkiness of Marlene and the perseverance of Curtis, these two can make it through anything.
When Curtis comes clean with his secrets, there is some retribution that takes place, but the love between Marlene and Curtis grows. It is so sweet and loving, you can't help but fall for this couple!
Charles D Baker is the narrator. He is perfect for the contemporary western romance.

I have to admit this is the best book I've listened to from all the Amelia Rose books I have. the story is wonderful filled with love, and proving that love. This story was down right fun and at times funny to listen to.
Charles D Baker long ago became one of my favorite narrators. I love the way way he uses his voice to stress parts of the story, and softens his voice at the perfect time.
I look forward to more from author and narrator.
Any additional comments?
This story centers around the main leads, Marlene, and Curtis.
Curtis has loved Marlene since he was a teenager.
She leaves town, he misses his chance with her but but Now, he has a second chance when she comes home for a visit.
There are a few ups and downs in the story, but overall, it was an Enjoyable Read.
Charles D. Baker did well with the narration.

Mending fences
This is a great little cowboy romance (modern.) I think it's just about perfect in terms of "mature" things. There is a bit of sexiness without being completely detailed. However, there are sexual innuendos. If you're easily offended by either of these, be prepared.
Amelia Rose has written yet another really sweet (with a little spice) short story, which I will give for 4.5 stars.
The narrator was a bit too "hunky-dory, folksy, yee-haw" for me. But he did continue to grow with me so I am giving him 3.5 stars
Overall a lovely book. It is short enough to finish them in the evening (if you neglect your work or family) or in two sessions (neglecting neither.)

Mending Fences (Texas Heat #1)'
: Amelia Rose
A short, sweet, clean, western romance that has two young people that want a relationship and the many things that are trying to keep them apart. It was a nice listen.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed, by Charles D. Baker.
