Publisher's Summary

Battered by the sea, Adam remembers nothing of his past, his ducal rank, nor of the shipwreck that almost claimed his life. However, he's delighted to hear that the golden-haired vision tending his wounds is his wife. Mariah's name and face may not be familiar, but her touch, her warmth, feel deliciously right...

When Mariah Clarke prayed for a way to deter a bullying suitor, she didn't imagine she'd find the answer washed ashore on a desolate beach. Convincing Adam that he is her husband is surprisingly easy. Resisting the temptation to act his wife, in every way, will prove anything but. And now a passion begun in fantasy has become dangerously real-and completely irresistible...

A fun romantic novel. The narration is great and made the story interesting. I enjoyed the story line and characters.

Start of a Series

I wasn't too excited about the description of this book, but when I was looking at some of Putney's other books, I realized this was part of a series: The Lost Lords. This is book 1 and audible has 4 of the 5 books. I had already read "No Longer a Gentleman" and had the feeling I was stepping into a story that had already started because of the way it referenced other characters, so I was pleased to figure out that this was the start of that series.

I like to start at the beginning, makes for greater understanding and allows the story to build. Despite the bland description, I found this to be an enjoyable read with likable characters. I will be reading the rest of the series.

Pretty Average Story with Subpar Characters

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No. The story wasn't very appealing, and I didn't care for either protagonist.

What three words best describe Kate Rawson’s performance?

I thought it was an average performance: Not bad but not outstanding either.

Did Loving a Lost Lord inspire you to do anything?

Ha, no.

Any additional comments?

I found the story under-developed, the plot points too predictable or outlandish, and the characters irritating. I didn't find much endearing in the female protagonist, and the male protagonist lacked the virility many find appealing in males of this genre. The culmination of each protagonist's storyline, and how much they mirrored each other, was a bit absurd. Pass right by 'Go' and collect your $200 for a better historical romance.

No. Just no.

The book was horrible and trite. The reader wasn't awful, but it was hard to tell which character (the H or the h) was speaking most of the time.

Great start to the series!

I read this book years ago. This time I listened to the audio. While the story is great, I did not care very much for the reader. This is a great start for the series.

Great Original story

It is not often that i give a book 5 stars but this one was well written, the plot keep you interested and you won't be able to guess the villain in the story until the very end. I will be purchasing all the books in this series.
