Heartwarming

This was a wonderful anthology of heartwarming Christmas stories tied together by the premise of Lady Holly's Last Chance Christmas Ball. I loved each and every story and was so sorry to reach the end. All of the authors are fabulous writers.

Claxton did a good job narrating. I love her accent, and her voice is very soothing. She did both the female and male characters' voices very well. I will look for other books she's narrated.

Lovely stories, great narrator.

This is a lovely listen - nice stories and a wonderful narrator. She even sang the Gaelic Christmas carol! And this book is so cheap right now. Perfect for the run up to Christmas. Go for it!

The Last Chance Christmas Ball

I have read and listened to Christmas compilations for years and this is my favorite by far. The stories are great, as are the performances. All of the stories take place around or on the annual Last Chance Ball. The characters, especially the older characters are quirky and fun. A few of the stories deal with serious issues, but it doesn’t make the story depressing. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves Christmas and regency romance.

Excellent and Enjoyable!

Where does The Last Chance Christmas Ball rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

In the top 25. Excellent narration by Elaine Claxton and the short stories that are woven together around a Christmas Ball. I enjoyed all but one of the short stories. I like how each author connected their story line from the previous story. Made for a seamless listen. Really a pleasant Christmas story. No explicit sex scenes, which was really nice.

The Last Chance Ball

Beautifully narrated by Elaine Claxton, this anthology is filled with several different novellas all built around Miss Holly's "last chance ball". Each story highlighted characters who met and fell in love with someone else invited to the ball. I enjoyed listening to the audio version of this book since the narration was so splendid and these are some of my favorite authors. It was a wonderful Christmas diversion when I took breaks from all the hustle and bustle of this time of year.

The dullest *adventure* ever

Would you try another book from Mary Jo Putney and/or Elaine Claxton?

I think not

Has The Last Chance Christmas Ball turned you off from other books in this genre?

No

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Elaine Claxton?

Don't know Katherine Kellgren, maybe; someone who would infuse some liveliness into the narration.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The idea was promising. Maybe it is really the narration- although some of the freedom this housemade has about the house seems most improbable- that robbed this plot of intrigue and interest; it could have been much better

Any additional comments?

Can't do 13 hours of dull murmuring. Sorry; returning

Wonderful, charming collection

This is my favourite ever collection of Christmas short stories. I like the way they intertwine, and each story manages to have a different type of romance. It's a pleasure I suspect I will keep repeating every year.
