Publisher's summary

Three young heirs, imprisoned by an unscrupulous uncle, escaped - to the sea, to the streets, to faraway battle - awaiting the day when they would return to reclaim their birthright.

Once upon a time, he was Lord Tristan Easton - now he is Crimson Jack, a notorious privateer beholden to none, whose only mistress is the sea. But all that will change when exquisite Lady Anne Hayworth hires his protection on a trip into danger and seduction....

Desperation brought Anne to the bronzed, blue-eyed buccaneer. But after the Captain demands a kiss as his payment, desire will keep her at his side. She has never known temptation like this - but to protect her heart, she knows she must leave him behind. Yet Tristan cannot easily forget the beauty - and when they meet again in a London ballroom, he vows he won't lose her a second time, as fiery passion reignited takes them into uncharted waters that could lead the second lost lord home....

HISTORICAL ROMANCE AT IT'S ABSOLUTE BEST

Firstly, this is actually book 2 of The Lost Lords of Pembrook series however, Audible hasn't yet listed book 1. It would have been nice to start at book 1 - She Tempts The Duke, but don't be put off as this is easily a 'stand alone' book.

Good story with a great chemistry between the roguish Tristan and Lady Anne who just can't help falling for his charms but they are both tortured by the past. There's an instant attraction that they both try to fight but, however hard they try, it builds and builds. Anne is being forced to marry but, despite their bond, she won't force him and he doesn't want to be tied down and the sea is calling him back.

It's a passionate and heartbreaking love story and, absolutely one of L.H.'s best. 9.5 hrs of pure listening pleasure.

Worth a credit? Definitely - this one is a MUST HAVE.

Passionate Love Story

Tristan is a ship captain and a contradiction. He's a Lord but eschews the title; he is educated but dresses almost like a ruffian and he appears insouciant yet is incredibly aware of all his surroundings. Tristan is a wanderer having been forced to sea at a young age. He is a restless soul.

He meets heroine, Lady Anne in a London tavern and he is attracted to her right away. She wants him to take her to her fiancé who left her four years earlier to fight in the Crimea. He declines her offer making her angry and she storms out.

Anne is determined to make her journey for many reasons and she is also determined to do things her way. Eventually Tristan agrees to transport her and they have a very interesting voyage. Anne almost bristles when she confronts Tristan and he enjoys their encounters but as the ship sails toward the Mediterranean these two drop their masks. Anne has been melancholy and guilt ridden, she needs to forgive herself and move on with her life. Tristan is scarred horribly from being separated from his brothers and losing his father, he is terrified of loving again.

Both characters try very hard to keep their hearts protected but soon they find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other. Both try to dismiss their feelings yet they just can't seem to let each other go. There are moments in this story which resonate with true heartache for the past and even for the present. Anne wants a family and Tristan wants freedom, they are at odds with each other over their futures yet neither wants to forgo seeing the other. This is a passionate couple, really demonstrative and many times they support each other in difficult circumstances. This is a truly romantic and memorable tale

Excellent 2nd book in this series.

This is the 2nd book in the series of Lost Lords of Pembrook. The first book is not available on audible, however I did read it and it was fantastic, it was about Sebastian. This book, Lord of Tempation, is about Tristan and the 3rd book is about Rafe. I am looking forward to the 3rd book which is available on audible, and I am about to start it. I am not sure why audible does not have the books grouped as a series or why the 1st one is not available on audible. However, the order of this series is as follows:
She Tempts a Duke
Lord of Temptation
Wicked Intentions

I hope this helps.
Also I thought the narrator has done a fantastic job!

Loved it

I've been waiting for this book to come out, since I fell in love with the first one in the series! This one was fantastic. I wasn't a fan of the narrator. But I love Lorraine Heath's books. Can't wait for book 3!

Too much time

Spent too much time on the back and forth with Tristan and Ann. Kind of boring.

Great Series

I loved this series! Each brother had different disastrous experiences scarring their hearts and effecting their adults lives. The loves of each of their lives gave them what they needed to adjust to their new normals. Great ways helped reader to evaluate their own relationships.

great depth in the storyline

I love the characters. Heath is amazing. I did laugh a little at the reading as the characters started to sound slightly irish towards the end of the book but it was a good performance. The depth of the story was great.

Narrator was dreadful

It isn't often that I get a book with narration so bad I can't determine storyline. This was one.

The series ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Each of the brothers encounter different obstacles . Each story is wonderful, wicked, funny, sad, audacious! The narrator brings it a life with the author’s writing talents…
