Fantastic story!!!!

Although this is one of Lorraine Heath's older books it is definitely worth listening too. Ms. Heath always weaves such an interesting tale with intriguing characters. There are places in the book where you want to laugh and others that make you quite sad. I particularly liked Angela's strong character and when Lee Raven realizes Angela's flaw.

I think that Moe Egan did a very nice job although I think she reads a little too slowly. She does a great job with the Spanish accents, but totally botched the English accents. One can easily distinguish the various characters speaking with Ms. Egan's reading. She just needs to pick up the pace a little bit.

I would definitely recommend this book because it keeps you guessing and some nice twists and turns.

Unexpected and Enchanting

With a brave hero masquerading as an outlaw and a sweet heroine in his protection, a beautiful romance is bound to happen. This is a fantastic book with an incredible ending. Nothing expected and anything can happen. Worth a credit and a second listen.

Giddyup

Great concept and execution. Well worth the time to sit back relax and do housework and while away the hours with this western. I knew what would happen or rather I hoped I knew what would happen. Life is Hard so I need my Happily Ever After. I was not disappointed.

Lets see more of these books

If you could sum up The Outlaw and the Lady in three words, what would they be?

A Great Read!

Any additional comments?

I loved the story and it was one that had you happy and sad and all the stuff in between. The story was great and the reader did a good job. I hope she writes more of the western books.

Regency Romance-meets Wild West.

This book made me want to travel back in time to the Wild West. It was well written and had all of my favorite qualities of a romance. I really enjoyed Angela, who is blind after a childhood illness. However, her blindness doesn’t define her character; in truth, her passion for life is her defining characteristic! I enjoyed the twists and turns. I heartily agree with another reviewer who stated that this book makes you laugh and makes you cry. There is lost love, murder, revenge, justice, and (of course) the happily ever after. It is the first in this series and very enjoyable.

Fantastico!

Oh what a pleasant surprise this was! My first historical/western romance and I LOVED it. And it became my favorite Lorraine Heath book so far. I don't like to give spoilers but let me tell you there are several surprises on this book. Angela is not your average heroine. She has a disability but she is as independent and strong as she can possibly be. And the delicious outlaw Lee Raven turns out to be someone else. By the end of the story, everything you thought at the beginning of the story ends up being completely different. I also loved the historical references about Texas fight for independence and how the touchy subject of racism and prejudice is handled. Great romance, great action, great suspense!

Narration: this is my first book narrated by Moe Eagan. I liked her. I did find her narration a bit slow at times. Some of the characters in this story are Mexican and Ms. Eagan pronounced the words in Spanish excellently. She also made her characters who had a strong accent in English sound very believable. Ms. Eagan had to narrate in Spanish, English, with american(Texan) accent and British accent and did it all very very well. At the same time each character sounded different and her male voices were great. I would listen to more books narrated by her in the future.

I highly recommend this book to people who like historical romances with great narration.

Boring

I got to chapter 8 and couldn’t take it anymore. So disappointed in this book.

Just awful...

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Other reviewers on this page seemed to enjoy it. It is a good deal promoting Whispersync.

Would you ever listen to anything by Lorraine Heath again?

I have read several novels by Lorraine Heath, and even if she begins strong, she seems to go skidding off the road into implausibility and silliness. This story really didn't even get that far. Sometimes the right narrator can save her.

Would you be willing to try another one of Moe Egan’s performances?

But the worst part of this audiobook by far IS the narrator. Her cartoonish take on Mexican and English accents was cringe-worthy. Narrators can make or break an audiobook, this narrator took a hammer and further smashed an already broken story.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No, I can't even use it as a door stop!

Any additional comments?

Audible, there are some wonderful romance writers who write strong smart westerns. I'd like to see you introduce some new blood into the romance genre.

Stop

The story line did not develop. The book is very elementary has not depth and the narrator does not help at all. The accents detract from the story. Save your money and time.
