Once best friends, now strangers: Second chances don't come along often. Indulge in heat, ink, and romance in the third book of the New York Times best-selling Montgomery Ink Series.
Meghan Montgomery-Warren thought she knew what love was when she'd married young and had two children. After years of being emotionally beaten down, her husband has finally left her and now she's forced to find her way once again. Somehow she needs to find the person she used to be and figure that the strength she'd thought she'd lost was always there.
Luc Dodd left Denver and his best friend Meghan when he was forced to watch her walk down the aisle with another man. He might have only been her best friend, but he held his true emotions close to the vest. Now he's back in town and in Meghan's life. Only he needs to decide if that's enough for him...and her.
Their journey from friends to lovers is a slow burn of seduction and pain. When Meghan's past comes back to haunt them both, the two of them will have to stand closer together or be torn apart by their own misgivings forever.
Firstly I have to say that I have not read or listened to the previous two books in this series, but that in no way spoiled my enjoyment of this book.
The writing style of the author is really easy and she gives you enough background information without giving too much that you can jump right in. The story is about Luc and Meghan two people who were best friend all through their childhood. Luc's feelings had grown much deeper than friendship but before he could make his feelings know to Meghan she had fallen in love with Richard. The book starts on Meghan and Richard's wedding day when Luc decides that he can no longer stay and live in close proximity to Meghan when she just thinks of him as her "best friend" and is now a married woman.
Fast forward ten years and Meghan is divorced and no longer the girl/woman Luc knew, she's a single mum to two wonderful children and working to support herself and them. Luc has returned to Denver, in fact he's been home a year, and is working for Meghan's family firm (he is also a good friend to her brothers) he and Meghan are distant with each other but Luc still has feelings and wants to try again. Will she let him, or is she too damaged by her bad marriage?
This book is peopled by lots of interesting characters Meghan comes from a large family and all of them are mentioned with some of them playing minor parts in the story. The way the author has woven this tale I was engrossed and could not bear to stop listening to it. Gregory Salinas reads this story with such warmth and feeling bringing just the right amount of anger, passion and love to his delivery that I wanted to go on listening for ever.
This is not just a Second Chance love story there is so much more going on and so much passion to the story that when to story ended I felt rather flat. I now will have to listen to more of this wonderful series. I have tried not to give any "Spoilers" what I have said all happens at the very beginning of the story. But what I will say is I really loved this one.
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author, but am under no obligation to write a review - I just felt after such a wonderful experience that I had to! This review is written voluntarily and is only my personal opinion.
I want to READ the rest of this series. I don't like the narrator's voice and the "soap opera" way in which he speaks. Would love to listen to the rest of the series if it had a different narrator, I will check the rest to see who the narrator is.
awesome book can't wait to start next one in the series. Carrie Ann Ryan is awesome loved her books.
A well told and well narrated story. Loved Meagan and Luc. Definitely worth the credit as Gregory Salinas does a great job on this one.
I really enjoyed this story. Meghan was strong in many ways, even though she was beaten down a lot in the past. I fell a bit in love with Luc so I was sad when the story ended. It was well worth my time to listen to this fantastic story.
Montgomery Ink Book Three
After the end of her marriage, Meghan is reeling from the betrayal of her ex-husband. She is trying to survive by working for her family's construction company and caring for her children as well. When Luc gives her a ride home one day, she remembers how close they used to be. Luc is trying to convince Meghan that now is their time to shine. When they were younger, he wasn't confident enough to go after her the way he wanted to; but, now he is.
If you're looking for a emotional story about second chances and true family, this is the book for you!

I LOVE the story line. Friends that didn't know that they could become more.
What other book might you compare Harder than Words to and why?
Tempting Boundaries, both of these books show how strong people can overcome emotional and physical problems with help and love from the right people.
What does Gregory Salinas bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Emotion to the story. He did a good job with this one.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. Took me two days.
Would you listen to Harder than Words again? Why?
Omg yes. This story is so much h more than two people hooking up, lol. You have Meghan who 9 years prior married her husband Richard but lost her best friend Luc. Then after being married and having two children a d trying to be whatever Richard wanted her to be, while being miserable. Richard was mentally abusive, then oneday he left her and then her world got crazy. She was a single mom trying to figure out to be her while protecting her kids, Luc moves back home after 9 years, he stops by Meghan's house to find her in need of help. This book is about lost loves, should've been and new beginnings.
What did you like best about this story?
The journey Meghan went through and all the bumps and bruises on the way. Helping mold her into amaxing woman and mother. She has to go through so much, but she comes out on top...

Only from other Carrie Ann Ryan books. I have loved everyone of them.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

This series is excellent. The story is well written and flows well. Narration is terrific. I'm buying her audibles all the time!
Loved it! I loved how strong their love was and the family's bond. Both families. This story bought out many emotions. The fact all the family members were involve made me wonder about future stories. What about a story about Tessa, Griff or Wes. Luc and Megan's story was awesome!
