Publisher's Summary

From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Carrie Ann Ryan comes a sexy new contemporary series.

Devin Carr likes his life. He likes his job, his family, the outlook for his future. Then he meets her. Erin. As soon as he sees her, drunk and wearing a sequined dress as her world crashes down around her and she fights to put on a brave face, he knows what he’s been missing. Her.

When Erin Taborn finds her high school sweetheart and husband banging the former head cheerleader of their graduating class at their high school reunion, she tells herself she’ll be fine. She just needs to figure out what fine means. There’s only one problem. Devin. She didn’t plan on him. And for someone who thinks they have all their plans in place, that’s a problem.

One she’ll have to find an answer to if this whole friends-with-benefits thing is going to work. If not, she’ll fail just like with everything else.

Erin and Devon's Story is So Good

I loved this book! Devin and Erin started as friends, then friends with benefits but what they had soon grew into so much more. Devon had dated her sister many years ago when they were both in high school, it was never serious and they had both moved on but remained friends. Erin had married Nick her sweetheart from the age of 10 and thought they would be together for the rest of their lives. But whilst attending their Ten Year High School Reunion she discovered Nick with another woman. She's devastated and goes to a bar to drown her sorrows and it's there she meets Devon. He's a good friend to her, he makes sure she's ok, he takes her back to his house and lets her sleep it off on his couch, he's the perfect gentleman.

Erin's father left them when she was very young and now her ex has in effect left her too and because of that, she's afraid to be hurt again. So when she and Devon decide that they like each other and want to see more of each other she agrees on the condition that it doesn't become serious, she is not looking to be hurt again!

As for Devin, everything is going well for him his life is on track both his life and his job make him happy and everything is how he wants it to be that is until he runs into Erin, who is in a bad place her heart has been broken by finding her husband cheating. They come to an understanding but then things get more serious than either of them planned.

The book also gives us glimpses of family members and friends and mentions characters readers of Carrie Anne's Montgomery series will already know. The love of family is strong in this book, as it is in other books by Carrie Anne. But as love started to grow between Devon and Erin, she became afraid that Devon would leave like the other men in her life had, so she decides to end it before he can hurt her.

There is so much more I could say but, no more spoilers from me. What I will say is that the characters are totally believable and very likable too. I loved the family dynamics and the love shared by all. I was engrossed in this well written and moving book from the first word until the last.

The narration of the book by Samantha Cook and Jacob Morgan was excellent, it could not be improved upon and certainly added to my enjoyment of this very moving and engrossing story.

I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

Original&very sweet friends-with-benefits romance!

Narration: Samantha Cook and Jacob Morgan did an excellent job with the narration of this story. I especially loved how Jacob Morgan performed Devin’s voice, Devin’s cute rambling when he tries to ask Erin out, and his earnestness and growing love for her also shone through beautifully in Jacob Morgan’s performance. Samantha Cook really brought out Erin’s vulnerability and the shock she experiences when life throws her yet another curve-ball.

Story: Breathless With Her has all the romance a reader could want, made even more magical because of the main characters who are so relatable and so “normal” in a way. As a reader it made me feel that Love is out there for everyone and not just for picture-perfect billionaires and top models, or not just for fictional characters that have gone through immeasurable suffering first to “earn” their HEA. Which is not to say that these two have had an easy, uneventful life. Erin especially is dealt several blows by life, but she is lucky enough when it comes to the people in her life, her wonderful sister and close friends that are there for her when she needs a helping hand. Carrie Ann Ryan knows as no other how to create worlds with wonderful close-knit families and friends, linking characters and stories from one great book, or series even, to the next.

The chemistry between Erin and Devin is there from the first time they meet, they click together beautifully, but the timing is all wrong and after her divorce Erin is naturally hesitant to jump into a new long-term relationship. Despite her intentions to keep everything superficial, Devin and Erin grow steadily closer and happier, but taking that leap of faith and trusting a man with her heart again is hard for Erin after everything she’s been through. One of the many things I liked about this story is that it’s the woman who has commitment issues. The epilogue was incredibly romantic.

Loved this story and can’t wait to discover the next one in this series!

love these character

I totally loved Devin and Erin. I love that this book is connected to the Montgomery series thru Devins brother Dimitri yet stands on its own as a new series. Devin and Erins first intro to each other is so perfect. I also enjoyed the interaction between Erin and her sister and Devin and his siblings. I totally love the narrators of this book. They kept me engaged the whole time and brought the characters to life. I see more great stories to come in this series.

Loving those Carrs

This is a lovely start to a new series. And yet it ties in to other series. So while the main characters are new, we have met them before in supporting roles.

I will admit I had tears in my eyes towards the end of the story, both sad and happy. It broke my heart to hear Erin state that everyone leaves her eventually. I think she still needs closure with her dad, but I don't know if she will ever get that. One of the things I really liked about this story was Devin's profession. He is such a normal guy; he's a postman. I don't think I have ever read a romance where the hero is a postman. It was refreshing.

And how can you go wrong with Samantha Cook and Jacob Morgan narrating this story? Lordy, you just cannot go wrong. Sex on sticks meets lusty sex appeal. You decide which is which.

I cannot wait for the next book in this series. It can't come soon enough.

Another awesome spinoff...

Devin Carr is a great character, he is loving and protective of his family and that carries on to his relationships. He meets Erin who doesn’t want a forever. Just a rebound guy. I like that it was him who pined for her. And although she was in denial the chemistry is super hot, but their feelings... all the feelings... were trying to get squashed... great narration too from both Cook and Morgan.

Couldn't Stop Listening

This was the first time ever that I was so wrapped up in a book that if I wasn't listening I switched to the e-book and was reading it. Such a fun read and as always amazing characters that just make you fall in love with them! Erin is so much fun, I wish she was real cause I wanna be her friend, ha.

Devin was what I love in a guy, tattooed, grumpy and has a beard. I mean who doesn't love that? He is a fixer and seriously swoon worthy.

Their story was great, I loved how organic it all felt, they slowly fell and it was hot and fun to listen to.

I cannot wait to read and listen to more about the Carr Siblings. Bring it on <3

Really great story

Devin and Erin are well done characters. You have Erin who is just found out the man she has been with since a child was not who she thought he was. Her marriage is over and she doesn’t know what direction to go in life. She wants to figure out who she is and doesn’t want a man to be part of going forward. She doesn’t want to feel the pain of loosing them. Devin isn’t looking for a relationship and when he meets Erin for the first time in years she is technically still married and he won’t go there. When they meet again he agrees to a casual relationship but slowly he realizes he wants more and thinks that if he moves slowly Erin will be on board with that as well. When Erin confronts some things from her past she starts to see herself relying on Devin too much and pushes him away in an attempt to keep herself from being her and hurting him. Very real reactions with these characters and great chemistry. Loved this story and looking forward to the rest of the series.

Really enjoyed the dual narrators. Great job
