Publisher's summary

New to the Nightfury pack, dragon-shifter Mac cannot understand the bond between his brothers-in-arms and their human mates - until the moment he spies Tania and the energy bond between them blazes to life. Driven by a primal instinct, Mac will stop at nothing to find Tania, to keep her safe, to possess her. He has no time to waste: Ivar, leader of the rival Razorbacks, hunts her, hungry for a new high-energy pawn with which to destroy the human race. Caught between the warring factions, Tania finds herself immersed in a world she never knew existed - and bound by a love stronger than time.

With Mac, her safety from Ivar and the perils of the human world is assured, but still she is left with a terrible choice: forsake the independence she’s fought so hard to achieve and reclaim the life she loves, or abandon the man who now holds her heart.

Didn't disappoint

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, but recommend listening to series in order. This is a good continuation of the charactors of the series. Can't wait for #4.

What did you like best about this story?

The introduction of new charactors into the story line.

Which scene was your favorite?

Where Tania's car goes over the bridge and Mac puts her in a bubble of air in the ocean to save her.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both.

Any additional comments?

Enjoying the series so far. Looking forward to the next book.

Glad I didn't give up on this series!

This book was GREAT! Book 1 was good, book 2 had me questioning myself as to why oh why I was still listening to this suspend reality and don't think too much series, but this one hit it out of the park for me...except for the narrator.

This is the story of Mac...he's 34 and just found out he is a dragonborn...and a rare water dragon at that! He has always loved the water, even was a navy seal, but nothing could have prepared him for 4 grown male dragons appearing at his door when he was so weak he was near collapse. They walked him through his change in book 2, and in book 3 he thrived! He did awesome tricks in the water and all while trying to figure out this mysterious pull he has for Tanya Solaris...whom we met in book 1, best friend of Mist.

The heat was hot, the action was great, it left me wanting more! I downloaded book 4 during my commute because I needed it RIGHT NOW! Don't get me wrong, I'm still not completely thrilled with the series. A series based on a pack of dragons is very cool...but a series based on a supposedly totally rare thing, a dragon and a woman finding a very rare thing called energy fuse...so rare it has been lost in the dragon kind knowledge.....did I mention rare?...uh huh...then how come 3 dragons have found it in less than 2 months? See, and that still annoys me, don't tell me something is rare and mystical and then give me boat loads of it...kind of ticks me off. So, I have decided to think of this type of union as NOT rare...and just dragons finding their mates.

Speaking of ticking me off....the voices of the male characters....UGH! The narrator IS a male, why is it so freaking hard to do a male voice that doesn't sound like a scared teenage computer geek? These are DRAGON men...make them sound like it!!!!!

Great Book!!

So I am listening to this book during my commute to and from work. I had already read this book not once but twice. I have actually read all the books in the series so far at least twice. I absolutely love the dragon kind stories. They combine romance, suspense and even humor into an intriguing tale that you can't help but be drawn into.I highly recommend this book as well as the others in the series including the Scottish dragon books. I just hope there will be new dragon kind books in the future.

Good!

I enjoyed this one but I do think the previous two books were a bit more exciting. I am very intrigued by what we learned from the lone dragon and what he discovered at the clubs. I’m looking forward to when he takes that whole operation down. I assume the Nightflury’s will be a part of that.

Mac

I love Mac’s character and acceptance of his world. Tania is another strong female thrust into a crazy world but she finds her footing quickly.

Female Character TSTL

Is there anything you would change about this book?

First chapters have too much redundant filler fluff. Basic story was good. Male characters interesting tho the tough guy dialogue is overdone and becomes juvenile, not macho). The main female character is just Too Stupid To Live - but, of course, she does. The things the author has her think and do were just ridiculous to the point that had this been a hard copy I'd have thrown it at a wall. The author intended to make the character seem overwhelmed with love and concern, but the reasoning given for the characters actions were totally vapid. Ugh! I'm a woman and I hate it when an author has the female character act like a total idiot. The book seemed like the author threw it together and rushed the ending.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Just listened to "The Scottish Prisoner," and liked it more than I had thought I would since it was an offshoot of the main Outlander stories so I think I'll pick up another of Gabaldon's "Lord John" stories. I've read all the Outlander series so I knew the basic story in which it took place (Need to have read the first two "Outlander" books to fully appreciate).

What about Benjamin L. Darcie’s performance did you like?

Did a good job differentiating character voices and his pace and expression were perfect.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No.

Any additional comments?

I read the first two of this series and they were better by far than this latest book.

I wanted to be able to give this 5 stars.

I really wanted to be able to give this book 5 stars!! Most of the book I kept thinking what a good book this was, possibly better than the first one in the series (my favorite so far). However, there were a few things that really detracted from it.

The main thing was that the climax was extremely disappointing. There was very little build up to it and it was very brief. It could have served as an event to build up the tension and excitement to a bigger and better ending.

The book mostly focused on the two main characters in a "do I love him/her" tug of war. There were other multiple minor story lines introduced in other characters that never went ANYWHERE. I understand they were trying to set up future books, but it was a little overkill. I wish Callahan had chosen 1 or 2 to develop more and actually go somewhere with them.

What made the book really good was the chemistry between the two main characters. I could have continued to listen to more about them and hope Callahan picks up their story in future books.
