Very Good Listen!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would absolutely recommend this audiobook series to a friend. My husband and I listened together and we were both impressed with how much we were caught up in the stories! I would also strongly suggest they make their purchase through Audible, as it is much more cost effective than getting it through a book store.

What did you like best about this story?

This series had everything ranging from action adventure to mystery, and even fantasy.

What does Becca Battoe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Becca Battoe had a great way of using her voice inflection to reflect the attitude and age of the heroine, and she included emotion. She did a wonderful job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

My husband is a truck driver and I am a full time ride along wife. We like to listen to audio books to pass time while the truck is rolling down the highways and interstates of the USA. One of the selling points for an audio book, through audible, is the length of time it will take to listen to it. We aren't always interested in a book we can listen to from beginning to end in one sitting. Fifty Shades series kept us entertained, for at least a week!

Oh my

I really think the story is great. It is definitely not the type of book I would usually pick but it is tantalizing listen. I didn't mind the narration at all. I was scared to even buy the book because of the terrible reviews of the narrator. There were a few things she could have done better like making the transition between what Ana is thinking rather than saying. But it was definitely worth getting. Thankfully I saw some tv interviews with the Author that made me decide to buy it. I am looking forward to listening to the next two books.

Fifty shades of HELL YES!!

I downloaded Fifty Shades of Grey because I was curious from all the hype surrounding this story. It's not my usual genre of listening but the more I listened, the more I enjoyed the story. Anastasia Steele is the kind of woman a man dreams of but rarely finds. She's highly intelligent, innately good-hearted, awkwardly innocent, passionately affectionate, and optimistically unjaded. Listening to Becca Battoe tell the story, she suddenly becomes Anastasia as you listen and that's a rare quality in a narrator. The way she speaks and the was she phrases her sentences, Ms. Battoe captures the emotion expressed in the words of the book. The story is excellently written and gives the listener an opportunity to take an uninhibited, uncensored look into the heart and mind of a proper, intelligent young woman while she falls in love for the first time. Love before she's had her heart broken and trampled on by some other guy. Love before she puts up a wall around her heart and decides that showing her love exposes a weakness that will be taken advantage of. It breaks my heart thinking of her and how this is bound to end up but it also gives me hope that maybe one day, I'll find an Anastasia of my own. Great book!

Yes already going back and listening again, I found it to be a love story, a story that people can change and grow with the right mate.

When Christian realized that he truly loved Anna.

I have not.

There are just too many to type in this small space!

I loved, loved the book and I have referred numerous readers on to it that thought they would not like it because they thought it was all about sex and I assure all that I talked to there is so much more!

Listening made it so much more enjoyable. I could see the story as I was listening.

Narrator is Amazing

Where does Fifty Shades of Grey rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Becca Battoe is the perfect narrator for this book. I don't think that I would have enjoyed it as much if I had actually read it in paper book format.

Since I have had little time to sit down with the book on my kindle listening to the story was awesome. The "narrator" made me feel like I was characters from the book.

Becca was not good at telling the story or doing the voices. It’s a shame for how much it costs.

The narrator does a great job as Ana. Sounds like a college age girl.

What other book might you compare Fifty Shades of Grey to and why?

I've never listened to a story line like this. I've listened to most all of Jodi Picoult & Nicholas Sparks this book is not narrated as well as those. It's too many characters for one person, should have had a narrator for Christian at least. On a positive note, it doesn't take long to get past her "Christian Grey" and just enjoy the story. It's like listening to a friend impersonate their husband.
