I hated Cable James McCaffrey. He was entitled, spoiled, a user...and an addict. He was out of control and didn't bother trying to hide it. He had everything anyone could want but still seemed miserable and lost. Every move he made, every mistake he stumbled his way through, rubbed me the wrong way. However, I couldn't stop myself from trying to save him from himself when no one else would. In the sweltering heat of the summer, Cable taught me that having it all means nothing if you can't have the one thing you want more than anything else.
I was a woman on the edge, shaken and shattered after a breakup that felt like it tore my entire world apart. My best friend, sick of watching me drown in misery and melancholy, harassed me until I agreed to go with her on a weeklong wilderness retreat. Nowhere in the glossy brochure did it say anything about the fact I was going to have to battle the insufferable but deliciously rugged trail guide instead of the elements. The brochure also forgot to mention that when you left civilization behind, there was no place to pack your inhibitions and fears.
The last thing Vaughan Hewson expects to find when he returns to his childhood home is a brokenhearted bride in his shower, let alone the drama and chaos that come with her. Lydia Green doesn't know whether to scream or cry in a corner. Discovering the love of your life is having an affair on your wedding day is bad enough. Finding out it's with his best man is another thing altogether.
Rock Chick Reawakening shares the tale of the devastating event that nearly broke Daisy, an event that set Marcus Sloan - one of Denver's most respected businessmen and one of the Denver underground's most feared crime bosses - into finally making his move to win the heart of the woman who stole his.
I've seen things no one should, done things no one should talk about. Honor and conscience have no place in my life. But I've fought and I've survived. I've had to. The first time I saw her dancing on that seedy stage in that second-rate club, I felt my heart pulse for the first time. Keelyn Foster was too young, too vibrant for this place, and I knew in an instant that I would make her mine. But first I had to climb my way to the top. I had to have something more to offer her.
An Irish mobster. A missing friend. Two loyalties, ripping me apart. I had a plan. Get in, get my information, and get out. Easy, right? Turns out, infiltrating the Irish mafia isn't exactly what I thought it would be. I just wanted a soldier. Someone I could flirt with to get me in the door. That's when Lachlan Crow noticed me. Problem was, he wasn't a soldier. No, he was next in line for the throne of the Irish underworld. And he was determined to hate me from the outset.

He’s my most delicious secret. The hot Suit I had a one-night stand with one evening. I didn’t know anything about him, not even his name. Only that we shared a taxi, and he was staying at the hotel where I worked. We met in room 301. Where he commanded not only my body but my soul. The next day he was gone and I only had a memory of him. I could still taste his kisses, feel his demanding touch. I searched for him for months. Daydreaming about him. Wondering if I’d ever find him.

Growing up, the three of us were friends. He was the nerd. I was the playboy. She was the beauty. Deep down, I only ever wanted her. I kept it inside because Rory and I made a pact that our friend, Amber, was off-limits. He lied. I went off to college, and he got the girl. Amber never knew how I felt. The first time I laid eyes on Lydia Decker, I couldn’t speak. Or breathe. Or string two coherent thoughts together. And I don’t mean any of that figuratively. No, when I first laid eyes on Lydia Decker - my physical therapist - I was lying flat on my back in the ICU, high as a kite on painkillers, breathing on a ventilator, my bones as broken and splintered as my spirit. She said she’d been assigned to fix me. But what I didn’t know...what I couldn’t possibly know...was that Lydia Decker needed fixing far more than I ever did.
On the night of her high school graduation, Vale McKinley and her boyfriend, Crawford, are in a terrible car accident that leaves Crawford in a coma. They were supposed to spend the summer planning for college, for a bright future full of possibility. Together. Instead, Vale spends long days in the hospital, hoping Crawford will awaken. Slate Allen, a college friend of Vale's brother, has been visiting his dying uncle at the same hospital. When he and Vale meet, she can't deny the flutter of an illicit attraction.
Everything inside of him is screaming that he needs to run, he needs to go, he needs to escape.
Lane Warner is used to being overshadowed and overlooked.
After all, he's the youngest brother and the most laid back one in the family. He's the one known for going with the flow and not making waves, even when things seem to be at their worst.
Very few things in life have had the ability to rile Lane up and get under his skin. At the top of that list is his childhood friend Brynn Fox...no...Brynn Warner. The fact that they share a last name was the one thing that has the power to light him up and spin him out of control like no other. There was no calm, cool, and collected when it comes to all the reasons why Brynn had to become part of his family. It's slowly killing him to keep wanting what he can't have, so Lane sees only one way to stop himself from doing something they'll both regret...he has to leave.
Everything inside of her is calling out to find him, to follow, to bring him home.
Brynn Warner is used to being stuck between a rock and a hard place.
After all, she's the daughter of an unrepentant gold digger who never once blinked at being the cause of her daughter's pain and suffering.
Very few things in her life have ever brought happiness and a sense of security. At the very top of that list is Lane Warner. She has unwaveringly loved the youngest Warner since the first minute she laid eyes on him. He was everything Brynn ever wanted and everything she knew she could never have.
Sometimes the right choice is the one that hurts the most, and Brynn's had to make a few that felt like they might be the end of her. When Lane takes off, one thing is clear: The only choice Brynn has is to go after him.
She's going to bring her wayward cowboy home.... whatever it takes.
Escape is a stand-alone novel, the third book in the Getaway series, which features the hardheaded and brokenhearted Warner brothers and the women who dare to love them. These boys are very good at putting the wild in wilderness.
Who knows why some books are loved by some listeners yet scorned by others, some of us connect with the storyline while others disconnect and the narration is either music to our ears or nails over a chalkboard. Well sadly this book, for me, was the latter option in each case. I enjoyed the previous two books in this Getaway series but not so much this one.. probably because I felt there was no real build-up to the romance as Lane the hero and Brynn the heroine already loved each other.. they just hadn’t declared their feelings.. which they rectified early into the story.
Brynn and Lane were childhood friends.. Brynn had a terrible childhood and Lane/school manwhore tried to do the right thing for her but for the wrong reasons. She was hurt by him, he was hurt by her rejection. Fast forward years.. years living under the same roof.. years fuelling undeclared attraction.. years where partners would come and go. But, when Brynn’s latest boyfriend went down on one knee to propose, it was too much for Lane to take and, before he heard the expected “yes”, he walked away.. from Brynn and from the family’s beloved Ranch. And it was left up to Brynn to bring him back.. but first they had to forgive each other, confess to their feelings and agree to start over.. then the book, their emotional journey and their road trip from Hell could begin.. because they rescue an abused damaged teen, get into danger and uncover evil.
Worth a credit? This dual POV story was (shrug) ok.. but somewhere along the way I failed to connect, lost interest and ended up speeding it up to get to the end. Was it the narration, the early declared feelings, the characters, the meh passion, the plot or just me?.. well who knows.. but whatever the reason, my answer to the question is unfortunately and sadly NO. However, you may really like or even love it.

Loved Lane and Brynn's book! Long time friends to lovers story with a sexy cowboy - I couldn't ask for anything more! Narration was really well done and perfect for these characters.
I just finished and WTH that ending!!!! Ahhh!!! I want more now... This book was so good. I live Cam and I can't wait to read about him growing up (hint, hint). I loved the cameo from past characters in Denver!!!!
