Publisher's summary

A hotheaded city boy clashes with a headstrong country girl in the first book of this hot new series from award-winning author Mysti Parker and coauthor MJ Post!

Broken dreams aren't always the pits.

Luke Martelli had one thing going for him: He knew race cars. But he didn't get his thrills behind the wheel. Drivers wanted speed and handling, and he could make that happen. He'd been hours away from working his dream job with a pit crew when a freak accident took that chance away.

Now he works a crap job as a parade float builder in Brooklyn. Then Ellison Carlisle, a rich girl from Kentucky, has the nerve to tell him to accept his fate. What does she know about pain? But damn, she's got the curves to match her smart mouth, and that's a mouth he's having a hard time resisting.

For Ellie, moving to Brooklyn was supposed to be a fresh start. She's homesick, but getting away from painful memories in Lexington is worth the change. Until she meets Luke, the hotheaded city boy who's entirely too sexy for his attitude.

Her track record for boyfriends is 0-for-3. Is it worth the risk to try to break that big chip on Luke's shoulder, or is he another lost cause?

Driving Me Crazy!!!

At first, it seemed to me that this was going to be another run of the mill, opposites attract kind of book, but Mysti Parker and MJ Post have given this trope a few twists and come up with a winner. Ellison comes to Brooklyn to start her new life. She is a party planner and gets the opportunity to plan the parades in Brooklyn. Luke, previously a pit mechanic, is the float builder for the parades. The two have instant attraction and the story goes from there. I love the slight push-pull these two had in the beginning, giving their instant attraction almost a slow burn feel. As they got to know each other, their personalities really melded and it is easy to feel their love grow. With such different upbringings, Ellie and Luke prove that with communication and love, even the most difficult of circumstances can be worked through. Luke has some real confidence issues with his job, and I love how Ellie makes him feel worthy, though she knows it's not where his heart is. There are several good supporting characters, one being Luke's cousin Bozo..the one you love to hate! Adding a little confrontation and drama, he is a great addition.

This is my first listen by this team of narrators. Dana Dae did a great job with just enough Midwestern accent to let you know Ellie is a transplant in New York. Brad Hackworth provided an impressive Brooklyn accent for Luke, reminding me of John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever! Together they work well together with an even pace and made an excellent listen.

2 broken people become 1 together!

This story truly touched my heart! I went in blind and was so happy that I did. Had I known anything about this book before hand, I feel it could has possibly lessened the impact of it. I refuse to give away anything more than the vague tagline here. You have to go in without reading anything about it!

The narration was okay. I had a slight difficulty with the accents but that was a person issue that I tend to have with accents. It definitely did not take away from the story in any way.

Great first book

This book is a great start to the series and it left me wanting to read the next book.

The characters are a highlight in this book, they're well written and come a live on the pages. The romance between Luke and Ellison is really sweet. I loved the city meets country aspect, the contrast worked really well together and their differences complemented each other well.

The story has a few great twists and kept me engaged from beginning to end.

It was a great book to listen to partially because the narrators did a great job with the character voices and the delivery overall. They worked well together and the character voices were recognizable with both narrators.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Drive Me Crazy

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This is an amazing story that proves you can overcome bad things or accidents that may be put in your path. I loved Ellie’s strength that she had and was willing to show Luke how to get passed his injury. To watch them two grow and love one another was great. I can’t wait to listen to the next in the series.

Short, but sweet!

I really enjoyed this book and appreciated the opportunity to do so on a free copy I received from Mysti Parker! There was great character development, despite being a shorter book. I'm a total sucker for bad boy/sweet girl romances, so this fit the bill. I also really enjoyed the narration, especially having both a male and female narrator. It brought you into the story so much so that it made the experience somewhere between reading a book and watching a movie. This was great all around!

Great start to the series!

Great start to the series. Good narration. Loved the accents. Good storyline. Enjoyed meeting some of the other characters that will likely be in following stories. The story was short(ish) so I was able to finish it kind of quick. (I always listen at 1.5 speed) I'm looking forward to continuing to the next books!

He can drive me anywhere

This was a little bit of a slow start but it didn't take long to hook me. The narrators were both great and I would love to hear more of them together. I thought this was going to be a typical story but there were enough turns it kept me engaged and I was sorry to hear it end.

Short and Sweet

I really enjoyed the story I thought it was very well developed. I like the characters they were very well-developed. I'm kind of surprised how much information was given in such a short book. I'm used to my audiobooks being 14 + hours and even though this audio book was just a fraction of that I don't feel like it was rushed or anything was missing. I'm satisfied. the narrator's did a great job I love the way that they were able to switch between the different accents. even though Ali was from the country I'm really happy she did not have a thick country accent that would remind you more of a hillbilly then a southern belle.

Do Yourself a Favor--Read This! Or Listen to It!

Mysti Parker does not write vanilla. This tale includes a cast of larger than life characters straight out of The Sopranos but (mostly) without the violence. Add to the Brooklyn-Italian mix one quiet and refined southern girl. But as you get to know her you will be quite impressed with how she handles not just her present circumstances but the grace with which she's dealt with some of the major incidents in her past. And not just bad boyfriends! And all this within the context of the author's signature sense of humor. Can it get better than this? Why yes! This is now out in AUDIO and narrators Dana Dae and Brad Hackworth do a fabulous job of bringing the novel to life!

Worth Listening To

This was a good book to listen to. I enjoyed the story. It was well written and the characters were great. This was my first audible story I listened to and I found I did enjoy it. The narrators read this with emotion and clarity. I will definitely be listening to more books in the future.
