Alyssa & Tyler were Delicious, Luc was Bland

When I started listening to Delicious last summer, I really liked the character of Alyssa - smart, spunky and strong . I got sidetracked by another series and just now rediscovered this book in my library.

Well, the 2nd time around, I found Alyssa (club owner) even more engrossing and Tyler (her bouncer) to be a total sweetheart. However, Luc left me cold. In book 2 of this series, Luc tried to use his cousin Deke and Kimber to create the family he couldn't have by himself. So not my idea of a romantic hero.

In Delicious, Luc to ready to marry a woman he doesn't love because he wants kids and his wife to be a stay-at-home mother. What a sexist! I notice he doesn't offer to give up HIS career to change diapers and drive carpool. Luc assumes that Alyssa can't be sexy, independent and a loving mother.

Sadly, it took the entire book for Luc to get his head out of his ass and quit judging Alyssa for her former occupation (stripper). Ironically, Luc & Alyssa first met when she was the entertainment at bachelor party where Luc was partying. So it was okay for Luc to watch a stripper, but something wrong with a woman who is a stripper - what a double standard!

While Shayla Black is an incredibly gift writer, I would like to see her create more enlightened male characters and less cavemen. I'll bet there are women like me who think secure, mature, and caring man are much sexier than dominating jerks.

11 hours of hypocritical bantering...just no.

I hesitantly read this book after taking a break after the first two because goodness the characters in these books are all stupid. I gave it another shot and wasted 11 hours on a book.
some spoilers ahead but no way to give a review and not spoil some things.



first off, if a girl traipsed around in no clothes letting a guy touch and kiss her and not denying shes having sex with him, I think any human person would assume shes sleeping with him. so shame on Alyssa for getting mad at luc when he assumes she slept with Tyler.
secondly when she admits multiple times shes not sleeping with him or anyone, and the guy just chooses to ignore her, but then keeps asking her the truth which she keeps giving. not so great for Luc either.
thirdly, it was prolly hard for him to believe he was the daddy after how she acted with Tyler and his diagnosis.
fourth this whole book is a back and forth with lack of trust and hypocrisy between the 2 characters. Alyssa wants him to think shes not sleeping around but then continues to lead him to believe she is sleeping with tyler...she wants him to learn to love her despite the baby then gets mad when she thinks he only loves baby right away and not her ... meanwhile luc, while a jerk in the beginning, tries everything to get to earn her trust and love and get to know the real her, and meanwhile she leaves him because he stayed with her despite having very good reason to believe she cheated?
it's a cluster mess. if you like messy drama and random violence then you would like this series.
as for me I like strong characters, done with this series!

It was a great story. I still am a huge fan of the narrator's but she did a decent job. I thought there were a few things that were kind of irritating but overall I love the story

Awesome book, except a couple weak points!

You know, I put off listening to this book for months. I’m not sure why, except that I new Luke was kind of a selfish prick, from previous books. I figured he would do and say stupid things that I knew would aggravate me. I wasn’t wrong but, the book was actually better than I expected.(especially the mystery part of the book) I was really into the book and really looking forward to the climax of the story, and when it played out...I was totally disappointed. I know this fiction but the way that Luke handled to rescue of Alyssa was ridiculous and so unfeasible that I found myself pausing the book and thinking,”Seriously? That’s the best scenario you can come up with?” “Oh yeah, that’s really the way someone who is scared shitless for the love of their life would react.” This really ruined the rest of the book for me. Maybe other listeners/readers would disagree with me.

With that being said, 85% of the book was pretty good and it was definitely sensually hot! And to top it off, it was included in the Escape Package, so I was able to spend my precious credit on an additional book!

great book.  I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

love the series, this book less so than others

I really like the wicked lovers series, even though each book is basically the same story repeated, with a few facts changed, lol. The love story in this book, #3, is kind of weird and unbelievable, but I went along with it.

Great book, just wish here had been a little bit more to the ending of it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Alyssa and Luke.. What a power couple. You have two people who are fighting their own demands and yet a drawn to each other. Alyssa was true surprise, she is a survivor, loving, well educated and ambitious and Like is talented, loving, and compassionate.

The combination of the two of them is powerful, exciting and erotic. To have a love like they have after all the drama would be awesome to have.

What does Lexi Maynard bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Dramatic, good story teller.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I had a lot of laughs and tears but most of all I felt it was a story that developed when Luke and Alyssa agreed to share a night full of erotic passion. Alyssa couldn't get enough and Luke was afraid to admit he wanted someone like her.

I think it was a slap in the face to Luke when Alyssa turned to Tyler after being attacked by Peter..

Overall this book brought two people together demands and all with their past and built a loving and passionate relationship for their future.
