Publisher's summary

At 18, Corinne Bishop was a beautiful, spirited young woman living a life of privilege as the adopted daughter of a wealthy family. Her world changed in an instant when she was stolen away and held prisoner by the malevolent vampire Dragos. After many years of captivity and torment, Corinne is rescued by the Order, a cadre of vampire warriors embroiled in a war against Dragos and his followers. Her innocence taken, Corinne has lost a piece of her heart as well - the one thing that gave her hope during her imprisonment, and the only thing that matters to her now that she is free.

Assigned to safeguard Corinne on her trip home is a formidable golden-eyed Breed male called Hunter. Once Dragos’ most deadly assassin, Hunter now works for the Order, and he’s hell-bent on making Dragos pay for his manifold sins. Bonded to Corinne by their mutual desire, Hunter will have to decide how far he’ll go to end Dragos’s reign of evil - even if carrying out his mission means shattering Corinne’s tender heart.

Spend some more time among the Midnight Breed.

Hunter's Story!

At last, Hunter get is a story. Moreover, Lara Adrian does an awesome job! "Deeper than Midnight" was interesting and flowed very way. So well, I could not stop listening, until the book was finished. The story pulls you in! Corinne and Hunter were a great team. The story has the kind of ending that make you want more.

Deeper Than Midnight

Hunter and Corinne Bishop were able to find their way by taking their journey of faith and will. Which ends up being love and them finding their child. Which Corinnes' son. They have live and family with each other. She was able to stay focused with her heart and in the she was rewarded with more love.

Not as good as the others

This is supposed to be Hunters story but there is so much of Chase and the others in it that it doesn't feel like we really get a chance to know Hunter. In fact in feels like it is more Chases story. Which sucks because his character sucks. If it wasn't for the on going story line I would skip Chases book all together. I have no desire to know Chase more.

Excellent!

The fact that Hunter gets his happily ever after is awesome. I didn't think he would. Especially being the machine that he is. Corrine is the perfect mate for him and I love that she finds her family. Very loving, peaceful, and romantic. Now I wonder what will come of Sterling Chase.

I want to like this as much as the other books.

As usual, the actual story was terrific! I am impressed with the authors ability to create a whole new story, with very real and unique characters, in authenticly different situations.

Unfortunately, after 8 previous books there was a stupid amount of re-hashing of old information. not to mention the rehashing a characters told each other what just occurred in the story. I rarely fast forward in a story, this time I probably hit the button multiple times over information I already knew.

Then there was the consistency errors. Repeating phrases. First the character is sitting, then they are standing, then they are somewhere else. Daytime lasts about 2.5 hours, in Lousiana?? Mixed up names (or is that the narrator's oops?). Then the book just ends. All of these yank me out of the story.

It felt like the author was burning-out during this book and gave it about a 75% effort. Or maybe they were rushed to get it published and couldn't go back to proof-read?

With that said, if you can get past all that, the story itself was still great! And I'm really hoping that the next one will be back to her regular standards.

If YOU are an author can I suggest an idea?

When you write a series of books add a "Previously" section at the front - like they do on TV shows. Anyone stepping into the middle of a series knows they missed important information and will willingly read it. For your fans who have been reading your books from the start, they already know this information (so do your characters) and we really dont need to wade through unrealistic conversations meant to catch the newbies up.

And, PLEASE, have someone proof read your work! Not just for typos (so many tools can help with that) but for consistency, repetition, and just plain awkwardness. (There are many ways to get free or inexpensive eyes on your book, people who would love to help, just to help, who aren't your well meaning but unhelpful family and friends).

ANOTHER GREAT ONE!!!

I was counting the days waiting for this next story to come out and it was worth the wait. Hunter and Corrine's story was very touching. I not only listened but read the book as well. BIG props to Hilary Huber she totally brings you in to the story I almost wish I could meet a "Warrior from the Order".
I have read AND listened to all of the stories (more than once) and I love the fact that none of the stories are the same they all have their own story line. I am so over Dragos and ready for him to go down but I am sure when Lara gives us that story she is going to do it good.
Can't wait till Chase's story is realeased (FYI if you buy the book at the end Lara gives you a quick glance of the begining of Chase's story).
HAPPY LISTENING :)

A bit of a disappointment-still good!

Let me start by saying I am a huge fan of this series, and if you are as well, this book is a must listen/read. The story, as usual, is well written and the narrator does a fabulous job. We get to revisit most of the couples from the previous books, continue to build up the struggle between the Breed and the evil Dragos, and we see a lot of Sterling Chase and his downward spiral; and there my friends is where the disappoint comes into play. Hunter has been one of my fav???s since being introduced and I was so looking forward to his story, and well, in my opinion he was cheated! I???ll bet if I go back and try to add up the time spent on Hunter and Corrine???s love story, it???s only a little over a quarter of the book. The bulk of this book focuses on the Breed back in Boston, Dragos??? shenanigans???, and Sterling Chase, all of it good mind you, but I wanted more of Hunter and Corrine. This book is still a good addition to the series and worth the credit.
