Publisher's summary

As a former assassin in the Hunter program, Asher is one of a small group of Gen One Breed vampires who survived the horrors of a madman's laboratory and the cruelty of the training that made him one of the most lethal beings in existence. Now, 20 years after his escape from those hellish origins, Asher is a loner whose heart is as cold as his skills are merciless. But when he thwarts a killing under way in the middle of the desert outside Las Vegas, Asher meets a beautiful woman who draws him into a deadly game against powerful enemies....

Orphaned as a child after her mother's murder, Naomi Fallon didn't survive 26 years on the street without using up most of her nine lives. But when her latest caper lands her in the Mojave against a Vegas gangster's henchmen, she's certain her number is up. Then he appears - immense, brutal, and far from human. Naomi's never needed anyone's help, least of all one of the Breed. But, after one risk too many, only a man with Asher's skills can keep her safe. Yet, the solitary, seductively handsome vampire has enemies of his own and a secret that will not only shatter her faith in him but her heart, proving what she's feared all along - that trust is only an illusion, and love may be the sharpest weapon of all.

Contains mature themes.

A little bit Disappointed!

The midnight breed series is one of my all time favorite so I was really looking forward to this book. Unfortunately, it was only so-so. There just wasn’t enough action and I guess I really missed all the characters from The Order. Hopefully other books in this spinoff will include the order.
The narrator was another disappointment, for me, Hillary Huber is so good that the bar was set high. This narrator doesn’t seem comfortable with the intimate scenes and it detracts from the story. He also doesn’t do female voices very well. Perhaps if he was paired with a female for dual narration. Despite all my disappointment, I know I will continue to get these books, as they come out, cause I love me some Breed Vampires.

Asher & Naomi, great off-shoot of original series

Asher is one of the Gen One hunters that had been released from captivity over fifteen years ago. He has lived a quiet life off grid outside of Las Vegas in the desert. Coming home from a supply run he saves Naomi from being killed and buried.
Naomi is a breed mate who has skills with manipulating machines. So in order to get revenge on a casino owner for a past wrong, she "wins" money from his slot machines or roulette wheels. She is always disguised as a different person each time. She uses the money to help street kids with her best friend and "brother" Michael.
Get this exciting book to find out what happens when the casino owner and his thugs come after her. Will Asher and Naomi becomes mated or will he send her to the Breed group in Tuscon for her safety?
This is a great off shoot of the original Breed series!
Nice narration.

Mediocre vampire tale

Mediocre storylines. Poor protagonist and weak vampire background as well as stunted deplorable character development.

So short!

These Hunter Legacy stories are all so much shorter than the regular Midnight Breed books. This one at least is not well developed.

On the other hand, I'm very pleased with the change to a male narrator. While Hillary Huber is a good narrator, I've always felt this series deserved a male narrator. When you look at the dialog, there is much more interaction between the males than the females. So that's a happy change for me.

A good storyline, well told

I enjoyed the story. A thief and a killer get vengeance and are redeemed by love. Told in a way that might have been a little obvious, but wasn’t at all sappy. I especially liked the focus on homeless kids. It’s a major issue in this country that gets little exposure. My friends who scoff at science-fi, fantasy have no idea how much they are missing. The vampire aspect of the story added interest and depth without distracting from a live story.

Very Disappointing

I always call these books, filler books. They're like something an author turns out to fill their contract. There's no depth to the story or characters. This one was really disappointing. Dont think I will read book 2 of this series. Narration was bad too. Narrator kept pausing after every sentence and had a really bad female voice.

To much sex not enough action

This one got boring for me, there was way to much sex and not enough action in this one.

I'm a fan of her serious so I'll continue on to the next book.

Great Start to New Series

Great start to a new breed series. Asher is a tragic and tough hero. Naomi is a bada$$. I love how she is so sweet under the tough exterior. Strong performance from Roger Wayne.

Meh

I don’t really know what to say about this book, it wasn’t bad it was just Meh!! The plot wasn’t very exciting and neither was the romance. Don’t think I’ll bother with any of the authors other stuff.

Intriguing and endearing

Along with reading all about Wrath and the Black Dagger Brotherhood, also by Lara Adrian, I found these guys mesmerising. I love the idea behind the characters and their stories twist and turn, holding your interest all the way. Sensual and raunchy scenes add some spice but there are also beautiful touching moments of tender humanity that steal your time away from less important tasks. 5 stars.
