Publisher's Summary

Ash, Jace, and Gabe: three of the wealthiest, most powerful men in the country. They're accustomed to getting anything they want. Anything at all. For Ash, it's the woman who changes everything he’s ever known about dominance and desire....

When it comes to sex, Ash McIntyre has always explored his wilder side - extreme and uncompromising. He demands control. And he prefers women who want it like that. Even the ones he's shared with his best friend, Jace.

But Jace is involved with a woman he has no intention of sharing. And now even Gabe has settled into a relationship with someone who gives him everything he needs, leaving Ash feeling restless and unfulfilled.

Then Ash meets Josie, who seems immune to his charms and his wealth. Intrigued, he begins a relentless pursuit, determined she won’t be the one who got away. He never imagined the one woman to tell him no would be the only woman who’d ever drive him to the edge of desire.

I love all genres of books. However, when I listen to audio books as I clean, garden, drive they are better with a lot of heat!

"Burn - Good End to the Trilogy"

BURN closes out the trilogy created by Maya Banks. Each one of the books focuses on one of three powerful, handsome, and wealthy bachelors in New York City. The three men, Gabe, Jace, and Ash are the best of friends as well as business partners. RUSH featured Gabe and his relationship with Mia, who just happens to also be Jace's sister. FEVER told the story of Jace and how his meeting with Bethany changed everything for both of them.

Ash, like Gabe and Jace, is very used to being in control and getting exactly what (or who) he wants and when he wants it. Ash demands control in his professional life as well as his personal life. When he meets Josie, all the previous involvements with other women are no longer something he wants to think about. He becomes completely wrapped up in the idea of having her in his life and basically begins "stalking" Josie. Josie is an artist and he even goes as far as buying all of her artwork from the gallery and demanding any other pieces that she brings in. Ash shows that he doesn't like to take "No" for an answer and will go to any lengths and cost to get who he wants. Josie is just coming out of another controlling relationship and isn't sure if she can trust that Ash's demands aren't going to hurt her like her other relationship did.

Frankly, this one, like RUSH made me a bit uncomfortable at times with the demanding and controlling nature of the story. I realize that this is part of the new "romance craze" but I could do without it. I got a little bored at times because I felt like I was reading similar scenes from the previous two books.

This book did have some extra story lines that included Josie's ex and the drama with Ash's family that added a nice twist and a little more dimension. Brittany, Ash's sister, was a nice character addition and I could see a new book featuring her and following up on the trio of men and their wives.

I also liked how the author took a situation from the first book and reintroduced it into BURN. This particular situation brought in a challenge for all three of the men and tests their relationship. It was a nice twist and made the last few chapters of the book real page turners.

RUSH, FEVER and BURN will bring much success to Maya Banks I am quite sure. I would bet she has garnered quite a few new fans from this trilogy.

I've always been a avid reader so now I'm a avid listener. I prefer the paranormal genre but I do like to switch things up. It's boring if you don't have variety. Of course I do love the romance and the hotter the better. Also, you can't beat a good thriller filled with suspense and a ending you can't even guess at until the very end.

    "More of a 3.5"

I did enjoy this listen. It's just there's too much sappy content. I guess I don't enjoy all the "emotional" conversations between men and it's hard for me to visualize or connect with that. Also the love at first sight and knowing within a week that they want to get married is too much for me.I do know this is fiction but I do like to feel swept into a scene and some places are hard to connect with. This is just not one of MB's series that fires me up. It's good, but it is not one of those that makes my earbuds melt. In saying that, a few sexual scenes are very good. It's the total package that is not satisfying.

If your a fan of this series then go ahead and get this one to continue the story. If you want a real hot listen then I would look further.

    "BURNIN' HOT!"

I was highly anticipating this third installment in the Breathless series so I was perplexed when in the first few chapters I had mixed reviews. Where the story excelled was in the love scenes...hot as usual...excluding the multiple statements of "GET THERE!!" :-) Also, I enjoyed the other characters that were introduced, and sub-plots that unfolded which gave the story more depth. I understand that this was going to be another "hot dominant guy" meets girl and falls head over heels, but Ash's 'lines' and responses to Josie didn't feel authentic somehow and initially the story felt predictable, but improved drastically about halfway through it. Maya Banks is a great author so I remain a fan and can't wait for future books of this same genre from her.

    "Too much useless dialog"

I didn't notice as much useless chatter in the second of the series. This book is bereft of hotness do to the repetitive nature of conversations between the Men. OMG, how may times did Jace have to tell Ash he was there for him, that they " were family". OK already we get it, they are close. The way Ash tells Jose what he's going to do is so mechanical, there is nothing sexy about it.

    "Great Read and Fantasy!!!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Burn to be better than the print version?

    I haven't compared

What was one of the most memorable moments of Burn?

When the Ash came upon the victim of a severe mugging.

What does Adam Paul bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great job. Super ability deliver on the complete of female and male voices.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Again the discovery of the victim.

    Any additional comments?

The only tick in the story, The love at first sight and emotional talk of the guys gives a fantasy feel rather than reality. But this doesn't distract from the enjoyment of the story. Good plot and great smexy times! It caps the series well.

"NO SMOLDERING HERE - STRAIGHT TO THE "BURN" !!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Burn to be better than the print version?

Don't know - didn't read the print version, but my assumption is that whenever one gets to listen to Adam Paul's sultry all-male voice, especially during the story's intimate escapades, its hard to believe that the voice in my head when I read could ever hold a candle.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Burn?

The hospital scene where Ash becomes emotional.

Which character – as performed by Adam Paul – was your favorite?

Ash. That said he does all male voices great and distinct for each character and female voices almost as good.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was moved a lot throughout the entire book; there was tension, anticipation, tears, laughter, yearning, squirming and heart pounding.

    Any additional comments?

Well, I am not sure if it was that I felt like I had to wait a long time in anticipation of the audio release of this book or if the book was truly that much better than the other two in the trilogy, but I did like this one better. Oh, don't get me wrong, the first two were exciting and moving also, but Ash & Josie's story just "got" me in so many ways.<br/><br/>I believe of all of Maya Banks' books, especially those of the audio variety, this trilogy was her best thus far. Her writing and character development gets more and more refined/defined and sophisticated. I loved the way Ash talked in "clipped" sentences a lot of the time, making his point firmly, directly and defined his alpha/dominant personality and position. I can't say enough about Ms. Banks' writing and story-telling with this trilogy and hope she continues along this vein with future books - and in the not too distant future cuz' I've listened to everything Audible has offered of hers.

    Any additional comments?

Breathless is one of my favourite book addictions. I'm So happy Ash has found the love of his life with Artist Josie. It was an exciting ride to the very end. As always there is lot's of Hot wild sex with heaps of emotions and Love thrown in. We have all our favourites from book one and two entwined into this wonderful story perfectly. Sadly Breathless is over but i will be re-visiting this trilogy over and over again. I have really enjoyed every single minute.
