Publisher's summary

In her sensational Breathless Trilogy, number-one New York Times best-selling author Maya Banks tested the boundaries of desire. In her Surrender trilogy, there’s only one thing left to do: cross them. And never have the consequences of erotic exploration been so irresistibly inviting, so shockingly intimate, and so totally unexpected....

Josslyn found perfection once, and she knows she’ll never find it again. Now widowed, she seeks the one thing her beloved husband couldn’t give her: dominance. Lonely, searching for an outlet for her grief and wanting only a brief taste of the perfection she once enjoyed, she seeks what she’s looking for at an exclusive club that caters to people indulging in their most hedonistic fantasies. She never imagined that what she’d find would be the one man who’s long been a source of comfort - and secret longing. Her husband’s best friend.

Dash has lived in an untenable position for years: in love with his best friend’s wife but unwilling to act on that attraction. He’d never betray his best friend. And so he’s waited in the wings, offering Joss unconditional support and comfort as she works past her grief, hoping for the day when he can offer her more.

When he finds her in a club devoted to the darker edges of desire, he’s furious because he thinks she has no idea what she’s getting herself into. Until she explains in detail what it is she wants. What she needs. As realization sets in, he is gripped by fierce, unwavering determination. If she wants dominance, he is the only man who will introduce her to that world. He is the only man who will touch her, cherish her...love her. And the only man she’ll ever submit to.

Not on par for Maya

The storyline really dragged. It was hard to get into the book, much less the characters when your bored half the time.

This narrator should really not do male characters. There was little definition in her voice. It was hard to know which character was listening to unless their name was used. Rather unbelievable, hard to stay with the story...

Wish I would have read it instead

Where does Letting Go rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The storyline was OK. I got invested in the female character fairly early in the book. The male character was harder for me to embrace at first.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I liked the storyline of the girlfriends - liked how they only wanted what would make Joss happy, even if they didn't understand it. I can see how the next installments will go (which is a plus and a minus)

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Alix Dale?

Anyone - her narration was terrible. A cross between too breathless and sounded like she was plugging her nose. So contrived ...to try and sound sexy...but only sounded ridiculous! Please tell me this is not her normal voice! I would have much preferred someone like Jill Redfield.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Since I too am a widow, the scene where she went to his grave to tell him that she was moving on but would always love him really hit home to me.

Any additional comments?

This is brain candy (which I love - don't get me wrong)...but it is not Ms. Banks best work. Still, I will stay tuned for the next installment.

Awesome!!

This audiobook series is one of my favorites by Maya Banks. Alicia Dale just does a superb job of narrating, bringing the characters and emotions to life! Highly recommended by myself!

Two I her head bad thing one is dead.

What about Alix Dale’s performance did you like?

It was good. I did have some issues with differentiating between characters.

Any additional comments?

I was a really good book, & I love maya banks. I felt it was a little forced what are the supporting characters with very anti-main character the entire time. I found it a bit distracting and a lot of foreshadowing in her upcoming books. Fun for a credit if you love maya banks.

Horrible narrator!!!

Can't stand her voice! Sounded needed and she didn't really change her voice with each character. The story was ok.

Well... ...

OK... I see Breathless Series all over again... Which I did eventually like...

Not until the 3rd book in the Breathless Series did I really feel like it was a Banks Series... This kinda fell along those lines. Sometimes, Banks just don't do it for me and sometimes she does...

What really irritated me about this book wasn't actually the book, it was the darn blurp about how this was a crossover between Breathless and Surrender Series..

I spent the entire book looking for characters from Breathless and I really don't think the two main characters from this book appeared in Breathless...so WTF!

Anyway, this story was good, but I really didn't like the male (H). He was just... unrealistic if that makes sense...

The female (h) had a lot of plausible characteristics such as she waited 2yrs to move on after the death of her husband, and she actually grieved...and had a hard time trying to accept another man... She had a hard time letting friends and family know she wanted to move on... See plausible characteristics... Now the (H), he goes from best friend to dominating man of your dreams in like 3.4 secs.....???? What?????

Like I said... Breathless Series all over again... Book 1... OK; Book 2... Better; and Book 3... A Banks Romance!

Let's hope I can wait around for book 3....and since it's a crossover series, I would like to see Jace, Ash, Mia, Bethany... someone from the Breathless Series soon..

Nice Sale... I would actually save my credit for something a bit more fulfilling, definitely not a buy.

Narration was pretty good.

WAITED SO LONG & SO DISAPPOINTED

Would you try another book from Maya Banks and/or Alix Dale?

Absolutely. Maya Banks is and probably forever will be one of my favorite authors; as for Alix Dale, well I much preferred Adam Paul who took Harry Berkeley's narrator position for Ms. Banks' books. I liked Harry, got used to and eventually really liked Adam now there is another narrator - didn't like as much.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

It hasn't. Kind of a strange question to ask.

What aspect of Alix Dale’s performance would you have changed?

Nope.

Could you see Letting Go being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Well Alix was not terrible to the point I couldn't listen as with some narrators, but not even the same caliber as Mr. Paul.

Any additional comments?

Yep; I waited a long time to hear Dash's story and I think it could have been much better if more intrigue and drama. This one was way too bland on all fronts for me; the drama, the romance, the angst, and the sex. Common Ms. Banks I know how well you write, please step it up.

The Surrender Trilogy

I rated this as a 4 star because in all honesty BDSM isn’t my thing. I did like the personalities of the couple though.
