In a quiet moonlit courtyard, Helena encounters a handsome and mysterious Englishman. Before parting, he rewards her with a special kiss - a delicious, enticing, unforgettable kiss that makes her whole body shiver with desire. Helena doesn't yet know that she has met her destiny - and he is Sebastian Cynster, Duke of St. Ives.
Sebastian Cynster knows time is running out. If he doesn't choose a wife soon, his female relatives will line up to assist him. Yet the current debutantes do not appeal. Where is he to find the right lady to be his marchioness? Then Drake Varisey, eldest son of the Duke of Wolverstone, asks for Sebastian's aid.
The only thing more troublesome than a Cynster man...is a Cynster lady who believes love is not her destiny. Famously known in London society as "The Matchbreaker", Henrietta Cynster's uncanny skill lies in preventing ill-fated nuptials - not in falling victim to Cupid's spell. But then she disrupts one match too many and feels honor-bound to assist dashing James Glossup in finding a suitable bride for a marriage of convenience.
The instant Captain Declan Frobisher lays eyes on Lady Edwina Delbraith, he knows she's the woman he wants as his wife. The scion of a seafaring dynasty accustomed to success, he discovers that wooing Edwina is surprisingly straightforward - not least because she makes it plain that she wants him as much as he wants her.
It's December 1810, and Lady Therese Osbaldestone is looking forward to her usual Christmas with her family at Winslow Abbey, her youngest daughter Celia's home. But then a carriage rolls up and disgorges Celia's three oldest children. Their father has contracted mumps, and their mother has sent the three - Jamie, George, and Lottie - to spend this Christmas with their grandmama in Little Moseley.
They meet in a clash of swords, drenched in the moonlight of Britain's rugged eastern coast: Captain Jack, his handsome features etched in silver and shadow, his powerful physique compelling "Kit" Cranmer to surrender. He is her dream lover come vividly alive, and his command of the smuggling gang is absolute. His all-knowing gaze penetrates her disguise as the male leader of a rival gang with frightening ease, and his "punishment" with kisses leaves her maidenly modesty in tatters.

New York Times best-selling author Stephanie Laurens presents a brash, bold new series. They're battle-hardened, sinfully wealthy, completely unstoppable - and all male: Four officers of the Crown, fighting against a deadly foe known only as the Black Cobra.
Neville Roscoe, notorious and enigmatic, lives resolutely outside society, bound only by his own code of honor - until challenged by his desire for the one woman he cannot have. Miranda Clifford is a lady imprisoned by rigid respectability - until tempted by a passion beyond her power to deny. Flung together in peril, through danger and intrigue, they discover a love impossible to ignore...or keep.
When New York Times best-selling author Stephanie Laurens created the world of the Cynsters, she introduced readers to aristocratic British society, where arranged marriages are the norm and love is a dangerous indulgence. For no gentleman is this more true than Charles Morwellan. As Lord Meredith, he must marry, so he proposes to his neighbor, Sarah Conningham. But as a lady of independent means, Sarah is unwilling to surrender unless it is for unbounded love.
New York Times best-selling author Stephanie Laurens returns to rugged Scotland with a dramatic tale of passionate desire, unwavering devotion, and a match too powerful to deny.
Restless and impatient, Marcus Cynster waits for fate to come calling. He knows his destiny lies in the lands surrounding his family home, but what will his future be, and with whom will he share it? Of one fact he feels certain: His fated bride will not be Niniver Carrick. His elusive neighbor attracts him mightily, yet he feels compelled to protect her - even from himself. Fate, he's sure, would never be so kind as to decree that Niniver should be his. The best he can do for them both is to avoid her.
Niniver has vowed to return her clan to prosperity. The epitome of fragile femininity, her delicate and ethereal exterior cloaks a stubborn will and an unflinching devotion to the people in her care. She accepts that she cannot risk marrying and losing her grip on the clan's reins to an inevitably controlling husband. Unfortunately many local men see her as their opportunity. Soon she's forced to seek help to get rid of her unwelcome suitors. Powerful and dangerous, Marcus Cynster is perfect for the task. Suppressing her wariness over tangling with a gentleman who excites her passions, she appeals to him for assistance with her peculiar problem.
Although at first he resists, Marcus discovers that, contrary to his expectations, his fated role is to stand by Niniver's side and, ultimately, to claim her hand. Yet in order to convince her to be his bride, they must plunge headlong into a journey full of challenges, unforeseen dangers, passion, and yearning, until Niniver grasps the essential truth - that she is indeed a match for Marcus Cynster.

Another good one from Stephanie Laurens. I loved characters. The bad guy was not very compelling. Overall an enjoyable listen.

This series hasn't died out yet. Most of the charm of the first Cynster novels is still active in Laurens 23rd book. While I miss Simon Prebble narrating because he was incredible, Matthew Brehner does a very good job too. Brehner has a voice that to me seems to fit the authors style and the era she writes about.

For those individuals familiar with the plots and character development in the earlier Cynster novels, you might find yourself feeling a little let down.

I kept waiting for something , anything, to happen. It moves very slowly. I've pretty much read or listened to every Cynster story Ms. Laurens has written. They're getting to be interchangeable.
Not bad, just so very, very predictable.

Ms Lauren's mailed this one in. Narrator tried valiantly to make something of it but it's just not there. No story to speak of, pathetic villain, H & h both had no substance. Maybe this series has run its course. This was a waste of a credit and a serious waste of time. I'm embarrassed I finished it.

It was too long, if you are Stephanie Lauren's fan this one fell short of its mark I own almost all her book from the Cynster's {audio books that is ) and this one with narrator with no infliction on his voice and the material he had to wok with was not her greatest story and I love all her strikes until now, this book did not have enough suspense or maybe it was also the way it was delivered please pretty please bring Simon Prebble back I hope her next story is better and by the way Marcu's mom name is not Catrina it never was until this narrator came in the scene her name is Catriona not Catrina at least get the name right!, I will wait for her next book I never had giving her this low of a rating thank you audible.
