Publisher's summary

Trevor Dixon has made too many mistakes to count. Sober for 13 months, he's determined to do the right thing: rebuild his relationship with his family and help his brother get Rock Solid Construction off the ground. Failing them again isn't an option. Too bad the first estimate Trevor goes on alone is for an uptight doctor with a superiority complex.

A hand injury took away the only important thing in Dr. Simon Malone's life - performing heart surgery. He doesn't do well with people and has no family, but being a damn good surgeon? He always had that. Now he doesn't know who he is. The last thing he wants to deal with is the young construction worker who blows his shot at remodeling Simon's home.

Trevor and Simon form an unlikely friendship. The more time they spend together, the more Trevor starts wondering if maybe Simon's not as straight - or uptight - as he thought...and maybe Trevor's new attraction to Simon runs both ways.

There are too many reasons they shouldn't be together: They have little in common, their age difference, Trevor needing to focus on his sobriety...yet there's something about each other that they just can't shake. They don't feel so lost when they're together. But with their footing so unsteady, forming a relationship that's rock solid seems impossible. There's blow after blow, and the last one just might be powerful enough to crack their foundation for good.

Lovely Love Story

Any additional comments?

This story was ROCK SOLID! I loved the emotional connection between Trevor and Simon. And the way their lives were interconnect was sad and creative. This turned out to be a lovely love story.

a very intense story with great development

a very good story with much more depth than it appeared at first. very engaging and a good representation of the struggles of early recovery though the work it takes to stay sober was minimized. as an aside, Trevor would have never met criteria for admission to a 30-day program in this day and age! LOL

Rock Solid is solid

Solid performance by a solid narrator reading solid writing. Not a story that moved me deeply in any direction or one I’m likely to remember months from now, but a decent enough way to pass a few hours.

Great book!

I went into this book simply because it was Joe Arden narrating. I wasn't overly concerned with the plot. However, once I got into it, it just sucked me in. The huge obstacles that both Trevor & Simon face are so tough to overcome. I wasn't expecting the tears to get me at the end, but I'm a softie, so I shouldn't be surprised.

The narration was overall great because it's Joe Arden and his voice is HOT. The one thing I can say is that since he voiced both characters, sometimes the switch between them wasn't so clear and could take me a minute to catch up that the POV had switched.

Overall a HOT listen and really enjoyed the book!

Memories

Brought back memories of seeing a loved one go thru the same thing. How hard it is to fight the demon every day. in this story the recovering addict was able to get help and stay clean. However, my loved one let the demon take their life.

Awesome start to a new series

t was a great story. Poor Trevor put himself through a lot as a teenager & young adult. But we see that he is working hard to keep clean & take control of his life as well as showing his twin, mother & the people around him that he is a better man. Poor Simon had a devastating injury that caused him to be unable to perform surgery any longer and is kind of a bitter lost soul. What I loved is that Simon never doubted Trevor and stood by his side. Things were not easy in the least for these two but they did make through it together. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

I enjoyed the audio book but the narrator did not distinguish the voices good enough. There are some points that I wasn't real sure who was speaking.

Great story. Make sure to get it

Very good presentation of struggles of sobriety and loss. Ho we much it costs to let go, move on to new life and love. Riley gave a great story and Joe had fine narration with enough changes in man y voices without exaggerating

Second Chances

Second chances – not everyone can get one, but for those who do, it can be the salvation they need to finally start living again. Trevor Dixon is an addicted. He will always be an addicted, but he’s finally on the path of recovery. After one year of sobriety, Trevor is working with his twin brother at the Rock Solid, their burgeoning construction business. Everything in Trevor’s life requires work, from his business to his relationships with his family, and all the while Trevor is terrified he’ll let everyone down…again. Simon Malone is a doctor. He was a surgeon, but his hand was smashed during a home invasion and he hasn’t been able to perform surgeries since. Simon is lost. His entire life has been defined about becoming and being a surgeon, and now he has nothing but bitterness and regret. These two men don’t know it at first, but they need each other to heal, to move forward, and to love. Their romance and love was beautiful to watch grow and develop. I adored them as a couple -their strength and devotion to each other was heartwarming.

Overall, this was a wonderful book – very well written and I was invested in the characters. I’m a little sad there’s no sequel, but the book doesn’t really need one – the ending was lovely and strong enough on it’s own.
