Publisher's summary

When Pyresouls released, it was a brutal new virtual reality game with a twist: The first to beat the game would win billions of dollars.

But after the Burgon Beast couldn’t be defeated, Pyresouls turned very real and unleashed an apocalypse of undead, monsters, and a system of levels and stats onto the world. For many years since, Jacob Windsor has fought with sword and shield to survive Post-Collapse Earth where only ancient, guilt-soaked weaponry can harm the monsters from Pyresouls.

While defending his bunker with some of the last refugees of humanity, yet another friend loses his life to secure one final hope: an enigmatic artifact capable of sending one person through time.

In a cruel twist of fate, Jacob becomes humanity’s best chance for survival. He takes the plunge into the past of the terrifying, fractured realm of Pyresouls, where every player is out for blood and the monsters are more vicious than anything on Post-Collapse Earth. Armed with knowledge of game mechanics, secret loot, and enemy weaknesses, along with well-honed swordsmanship from years of battle, Jacob has every possible advantage against the competition. But the choices he makes have long-reaching ripple effects on the timeline.

Can Jacob beat the clock while grinding out Levels and manage to avert the apocalypse, or will his every action darken the timeline even further?

This post-apocalyptic gamelit series includes battle, levelling, and gear-enhancing mechanics inspired by the Dark Souls games.

Worth it

Mechanics follow the dark souls theme, but bringing them to life with their own personality and twists.
The story was definetly engaging. Worth the read!

litrpg meets sci-fi.

I do absolutely love this story. it starts off as a post apocalyptic hellscape and moves into a litrpg fantasy world. very well done.

Wow, great idea well executed!

This homage to Dark Souls is wonderful. I haven’t enjoyed a story as much as this one in quite some time. I am looking forward to the next book. Please don’t let anyone but Pavi Proczko voice this story!

Darksouls meets reborn apocalypse and it’s good.

The book is very dark souls. I’m fine with that and even like that. There were some inconsistencies in the story, needed to be story boarded a bit more. The MC was mostly smart was nice. The MC was over concerned about time management and didn’t farm as much as I think he should have. I would have like to seen I’m loot harder too. What about that good sword his friend told him about? What about the spell is friend told him about? He should have leveraged his advantage (foreknowledge). When he was going back to his time they should have realized that that timeline should have not picked his brain but vis-versa. I’ll get the next on for sure, had my full attention all the way through, 5 stars.

Absolute fire

An amazing concept that I’ve never seen in the litrpg community. Although very familiar in the souls like aspect it is refreshing in a book.

Absolutely loved it.

As a big fan of this author and the game series the story relates to, I was not disappointed by Rewind. The world-building is fantastic, the descriptions are well-written and stoke the imagination, and the progression of the story is quick without being rushed. I can't wait for the release of the next book in the series!

Book two when?

Overall a nice read. A bit of a Dark Souls and Assassins Creed mix which was different and interesting. Personally liked that there wasn't a focus on pvp and other players but more pve and npcs. Looking forward to the continuation.

one hell of a story

this is one of the most interesting book I have ever read. it's like the author took the game dark souls and made it a living nightmare with the lives of billions in the balance. can't wait for the book. really good character and storyline development alongside one hell of a narrator.
