Publisher's Summary

Newsweek called New York Times best-selling author Timothy Keller a "C. S. Lewis for the twenty-first century" in a feature on his first book, The Reason for God. In that book, he offered a rational explanation of why we should believe in God. Now, in The Prodigal God, he uses one of the best known Christian parables to reveal an unexpected message of hope and salvation.

Taking his trademark intellectual approach to understanding Christianity, Keller uncovers the essential message of Jesus, locked inside his most familiar parable. Within that parable Jesus reveals God's prodigal grace toward both the irreligious and the moralistic. This book will challenge both the devout and skeptics to see Christianity in a whole new way.

    "good read"

I always thought I was the prodigal son - or used to be - but now I see a different perspective on the story and I see that I have some of the elder son attitudes. I got something to work on now

    "Wordless"

    Profound, moving, clear, precise, concise.

I recommend this book as both an introduction to the Christian faith and as an encouragement and a tool to dig deeper in the walks of those who have followed Christ for a time. It will profoundly move you, if you allow it to. God bless you.

"Speechless... But in a good way!"

Just finished my 2nd (but not final) Timothy Keller book. This book spoke to me in a way that left me in tears. Our family is currently going through a difficult time with one of our sons. Not only am I'm looking at him in a different light but I'm also looking at myself differently. The biblical parable of the"Prodigal Son" has a much greater meaning now.

"Great Thoughts on an Amazing Parable."

Loved Keller's reflections on this timeless parable of Jesus. It's relatively short and to the point. Will definitely listen again.

"Good narration of a good book"

Timothy Keller is very easy to listen to as he reads this book of his.

It breaks down this popular parable and examines both of the sons and how they represent the different ways people (poorly) respond to God.

    "our times"

reminder for whom we relate to when we say we are Christians. how do we love Christ. and if not, who do we truly love. what are we holding for satisfaction? what is our purpose behind our actions? are we honest with ourselves? and there is God/ Christ, keeping watch for us, running to us when our hearts are ready. always loving us, always listening, always present.... even when our minds/hearts are confused/self serving. he'll wait as long as he can... he knows the depth of any pain experienced in this earth. he loves us so dearly.
I adore how Timothy Keller tells/talks with us during his teachings.

    "Wonderful Book"

This book provides a deep and yet concise understanding of human nature and it's relationship with God based on the parable of the Prodigal Son. Great for both believers and nonbelievers. Tim Keller narrates in a way that compels reflection and prayer.
