Publisher's Summary

Why is the church so ineffectual and characterized by the mosaic generation as unchristian? The term "born again" has been devalued both in society and in the church. Recent social studies surveys have shown that those who regard themselves as born-again Christians have the same tendency to divorce as people who aren't Christians at all! In these surveys, being born again is defined by what people say they believe.

The New Testament defines Christians very differently. Piper defines new birth biblically and helps us to embrace the reality of it: "I hope that showing that the new birth is not in our control helps make pastors and other Christians desperate for the supernatural in their ministries."

Excellent Book!

Great book for new believers yearning to understand what has happened to them. John Piper is very clear and makes the new birth in Jesus Christ easy to understand.

What a difference maker!

What did you love best about Finally Alive?

I lost my Christian mentor, my sister, & then my best friend over a period of 6 months. I was struggling with wanting to slow my pace of life vs. continuing an aggressive ministry I've been blessed with being part of for 8 years. God spoke, "It's time to live, not die." The book does not deal specifically with death impact; that's just what I was struggling with. The book deals specifically with the work, the Power & the Presence of Christ in me. There's no death in Christ; there's only life in Christ. Live!!!

This Book is real eye-opener

I found myself reluctant to listen to it at first
And I discredited half way through it but final few words shook me to the core
And all made perfect sense
I love this book and highly recommend it to anyone.
(I didn't find this book this book is found me)
