Publisher's summary

London lawyer Jack West has a great job and is married with a beautiful daughter; but his personal life isn't great, and it's about to get a whole lot worse. When a beautiful woman, who calls herself Amber, takes a keen interest in Jack over lunch in his local wine bar, Jack does his best to resist her advances. But when she pleads with him to walk her home after two sinister looking men enter the bar, he agrees. This was Jack's first mistake. His second is entering her apartment.

Ten minutes later, Jack feels himself slipping out of control, but a heavy pounding on Amber's apartment door brings him back to his senses. Five seconds later Amber has been shot and is dying in Jack's arms, assassinated by the men from the bar, now trying to enter her apartment. Amber's last words to Jack are; "Run! Take my bag and run!"

With only seconds to think, Jack grabs Amber's bag and flees for the fire escape, dodging a hail of bullets in the process. He is chased across London by the two men, but who are the crazed assassins and what do they want? With only the contents of Amber's handbag in his possession, Jack sets about trying to piece together the mystery. Trying to keep the entire incident secret from his wife, he calls Laila, a Moroccan contact from Amber's diary and arranges to meet her. They soon discover that the men hunting Jack are Russians. But what are they after? And can Jack solve the unfolding mystery before he's implicated in Amber's murder?

Things go from bad to worse for Jack and Laila, and the only clue they have leads them over to Casablanca, in Morocco, but what they discover there only deepens the conspiracy surrounding Amber's death and her link with the Russian assassins. With the Russian President flying over to the UK for a prisoner swap, and an international crisis brewing, Jack and Laila return to the UK to try and solve the mystery, only to find themselves in a race against time to prevent total global disaster in this fast paced adventure thriller.

Entertaining

This story is not a new premise but still quite entertaining. I felt like I was listening to an action movie soundtrack. The narrator was good but seeing as how the story is London based, a British accent would have added some authenticity.

Great spy novel

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a fast-paced, spy novel that was pretty entertaining. It was a bit... off... that it was set in London, with characters who are English, but the narrator doesn't do a British accent. I think this would have been better if the narrator could do better accents that fit the story/setting.

Great story, not so great narration

Red Mist is a great, fast paced spy novel full of action, mystery and adventure. However, the narration is not so great. I enjoyed the story but, I had a hard time getting through it because the narration is just....not right. I received a review copy at my request and voluntarily reviewed.

This leads to fleeing to Casablanca with Laila, a friend of Ambers, and back to London trying to figure out the conspiracy surrounding Amber’s death and her link with Russian assassins.

Very entertaining

This was a good read. I enjoyed the characters and plot. I was not sure until the end who were the good guys and who was the bad guys. Well narrated also. Looking forward for more from this author.

A fun, enjoyable, fast paced spy thriller!

First off, I know that some reviewers are complaining about David Loving's narration because this book is based in London and Morocco, and the main character is British. The narrator didn't read this with a British accent. It personally didn't bother me in the least, but to those of you that would be bothered by this, then you may not want to get this book. I'd recommend listening to the audio preview while keeping this in mind to decide whether this will bother you or not.

Red Mist was a fun, fast paced spy thriller that kept me listening for most of the day until it was finished. The main character Jack gets caught up in a plot to kill the Russian president because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He and his new acquaintance Laila, whom Amber, the girl who just died in his arms, told him to go find, go on a wild adventure to figure out what exactly is going on and clear his name in Amber's murder. In the process, they end up getting caught up in a wild assassination plot. Sounds crazy, but is kind of like a Bond story on a much smaller scale w/o the handsome spy (Bond) who gets all the ladies. Anyways, It's worth a listen if you like these type of books!

Red Mist Review...

Since this was set in Britain, it would have been nice to have British narration of the characters. Story line was a little disjointed, but I enjoyed.

Jack is an Everyday Man Thwarting Disaster💣

Jack West is a lawyer from London. He is successful, with a wife and daughter. His wife suffers from depression which leads him to speak/go home with a woman named Amber. He suspects that Amber is a hooker, but in his current mood – that doesn't seem to matter.

A few minutes later, Amber is in her last moments, having been shot. She orders him to take her bag, whispers a warning and directive to him to, "....find La..." Amber dies before finishing. Not knowing what to do, Jack grabs the bag and makes a run for it before Amber' killers find hm. Jack is on a mission now and will be the lead suspect in Amber's murder (when her body is discovered.)

Please read the Publisher's Summary it is detailed and anymore I add will only leave less for you to discover. This is the BEST 'page turning' terrorism/thriller that I have read recently (excluding Vince Flynn, of course.)

David Loving is a strong narrator. I am a bit perplexed that the author/publisher did not choose to use a performer with a British accent.

*I received this book in exchange for my unbiased opinion. This is THE BEST book that I have listened to in a very long time. I'm going to look for more of Simon Rosser's work. It is THAT good. Creditworthy? ABSOLUTELY!
