Heroes Are Reborn!

Grab a hold of your faith. Fight for your redemption. And at all costs, Protect your power.

Introducing the first installment in the Rain trilogy, An action-packed and unpredictable YA superhero fantasy.

For 15-year-old, Tyler Grey, the line between myth and reality is quickly blurred, when he inadvertently becomes the host to an ancient power. A power that puts him on the radar of not only a deadly black ops organization but also very old and malevolent beings, that are eager to see both it and him destroyed.

He has but two choices: Rise up and fight! Or die!

pacing issues

Not a bad story, but the way the narrator paces his sentences make it difficult to enjoy.

Unique take on the lore of gods and superheroes

~Disclaimer: I received a free audiobook copy of this book.~

The story keeps up a rapid pace of action once it gets going. The lore of the story could have been blended more gracefully because it seemed to come in exposition dumps. This is less than ideal, but the world being created was still interesting even with that. Tyler is a complex character that has to deal with his own loss at the same time as gaining superpowers.

The narration in this book is solid. There are a variety of voices and it adds to the personality of our MC. There are some odd pauses, especially when certain characters were speaking, that at first I thought was the narrator taking the commas and periods too seriously, but after looking carefully that doesn’t appear to be the case. This does make some of the dialogue feel choppy. If this might bother you then I’d suggest you just nab a kindle copy instead.

Occasionally the kindle edition of the book had formatting issues (i.e. line suddenly breaks and the sentence continues a line down for no reason). There were few grammar issues and one word choice/mistake “...mumbled bagging into the wall behind us to lean on it.” (pg. 222). I’m fairly certain the word should be backing not bagging.

The book has a unique take on the lore of superheroes and gods which was fun. There were some issues with both the audiobook and the kindle book that may put readers/listeners off. But if those issues don’t bother you then you might want to give it a shot.

On "Rain"

I received this audio book free for a review. I read several books a week, and I use audio books while I'm driving. I was pleasantly surprised with this one, as it's a "first" book. It has an interesting plot, and the ending was such that the story can end here or be continued later. (No, I won't give away the story - I hate that.)

rain down on me

really well written and narrated book. it touches on sometimes that teens might be having a hard time dealing with.. well anyone really.

I got pulled into the story about half way through. I liked the take on some events and the twist the author put on them. (trying not to give spoilers)

the only reason for 4 star overall is because it's exactly my kind of book. this in no way takes away from the story or narration.

there is alot of he said she said that can a little over done.
