Publisher's summary

Detectives in the sleepy town of Whitebranch realize they're dealing with a serial killer when a dead girl is found with a game piece on her body, suspiciously similar to an unsolved murder six months prior. What initially seems like a fluke or copycat soon starts to spiral out of control. With no real leads and a rising body count, one detective makes a fatal mistake when trying to draw the killer out of hiding...instead, directing the murderer's focus onto them and the people they love.

Quiet, Pretty Things invites you see through the eyes of two senior detectives, their trainee, the county medical examiner, and the serial killer they are trying so desperately to apprehend.

Quiet Pretty things

This was good! I thought the police needed to be a bit more realistic in their actions. Narration was very good.Well done. I was given this book free for an honest review.

Great story!

Definitely a fun listen. An easy, fun ride with a maniac and small town cops.

Pronunciation

Great book but had some interesting pronunciations that I’m surprised didn’t get edited out. Definitely a page turner though!

Cops, a killer, and trail of bloody mayhem

Compelling story, strong characters - some you want to be friends with, at least one you want to occasionally punch in the mouth. Don’t get too fond of your favorites. No one is safe in this world. I got more and more invested as the story went along, so much so that the last few chapters fairly wrecked me. This is my second Megan Stockton book, and now on to the third! I didn’t love the narrator on this one though. Some word pronunciations were off in a way that drew me out of the story and he was a little too laid back for the intensity of some of the action and dialogue. That was my only complaint.

what a great read this is.

I found this to be a solid story with relatable characters. The author did a good job with building tension and moving me through story. I enjoyed being in the head of the detectives and the killer seeing the story unfold from both perspectives. The hints of events to come in the story didn't always go where I predicted them to so I was pleased that the build up went awry into other possibilities. This story impressed me so I will be purchasing another of the authors books.
