Publisher's Summary

Louie Cogburn had spent three days holed up in his apartment, staring at his computer screen. His pounding headache was unbearable - like spikes drilling into his brain. And it was getting worse. Finally, when someone knocked at his door, Louie picked up a baseball bat, opened the door, and started swinging...

The first cop on the scene fired his stunner twice and Louie died instantly. Detective Eve Dallas has taken over the investigation, but there's nothing to explain the man's sudden rage or death. The only clue is a bizarre message left on his computer screen: Absolute Purity Achieved.

And when a second man dies under nearly identical circumstances, Dallas starts racking her brain for answers and for courage to face the impossible... that this might be a computer virus able to spread from machine to man....

Great story

Showed a softer side of Eve. Showed that she can let others in and she can care about others. She's learning what it means to have a family and close friends. As always Susan did an AWESOME job of narrating. I'm so glad they stayed with her and didn't which up. I think it would lose something if they change narrators.

Great Interaction with Side Characters

This one wasnt all about the case, but had some great moments with side characters. I loved that the boy came back, and we get to see him growing up.

the ending surprised me, but was believable and had good basis.

Another good one!

Best Lt Eve to date.

This is the best of the series to date. Complicated and complex with a satisfying wrap up. Narrator is the best. Highly recommend this audiobook.

Another hit

Once again JDRobb and Susan Ericksen team for another spelling binding adventure of Lt Eve Dallas. Really showed the more gentle side of Dallas.

I love Dallas

Great writer and an even better narrator. Enjoyed the story completely even though it is not my favorite in death.

Oh Lord, Dallas, please just chill

Eve Dallas is the most hateful character lead in modern literature! She is cruel and mean to her husband and associates, strangers, as well as to bad guys. I love this series, but I just cannot stand Eve Dallas. Weird, isn't it? I guess I have a love hate relationship with her but there is only one word to describe her - she is a Bitch, and I hats to use that word. The story in Purity in Death is good and the ending is a surprising twist. Eve and her team are on the hunt for a terrorist group that kills their target with a computer program that blows up their brain, an ugly death. Other bystanders are also killed in the attacks. Roark is helping with the electronic end of the investigation. McNabb has a terrible injury. Peabody is her usual wonderful self. She is my favorite character and is a refreshing change from Eve.

The narrator is excellent, but I sometimes wonder if it is her portrayal of Dallas that makes her so hateful. Maybe if read in a softer or more teasing tone Dallas would not sound so harsh and mean. But she would still come out as self centered, self important and rude. Dallas thinks that what she is doing is more important than what anyone else does. She thinks it is okay to be rude to working people who are just doing their job. She yells at her so called friends in front of others, which is embarrassing and unacceptable.

Bottom line is that Robb must be an excellent writer if I can love the series so much and hate Eve Dallas at the same time.

Best book in series thus far

I started to listen to the, In Death Series for two reasons, one, it was highly recommended from someone who knows I love a good mystery/thriller.
The other reason is this series pumps out book after book of top quality storyline, storytelling, & top writing so I know find myself wondering what the story lines will next 35 out of the 50+ left but knowing with a cast of characters like there is that slowly grows & so far never in a negative way I see no reason this series will ever end.
Learn a lot of the characters each book but this & the last ones have been fantastic
