Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author and renowned pastor Timothy Keller explores the power of prayer.

Christians are taught in their churches and schools that prayer is the most powerful way to experience God. But aside from learning prayers by rote, few receive instruction or guidance in how to make the most of this essential Christian act - how to make prayer genuinely meaningful. In Prayer, renowned pastor Timothy Keller delves into the many facets of this everyday act.

With his trademark insights and energy, Keller offers brilliant and inspirational biblical guidance, as well as specific prayers for certain situations, such as dealing with grief, loss, love, and forgiveness. He discusses ways to make prayers more personal and powerful, and how to establish a practice of prayer that works for each listener.

Dr. Keller's previous books have sold more than one million copies. His Redeemer Presbyterian Church is not only a major presence in his home base of New York, it has also helped to launch more than 250 other churches in 48 cities around the world. His teachings have already helped millions, the majority of whom pray regularly. And with Prayer, he'll show them how to find a deeper connection with God.

very solid theologically and helpful practically

this book was very solid theologically. It is reformed and very Christ centered. I found the subheadings and organization somewhat ambiguous at times but the content is very well thought out and presented clearly. excellent Keller book.

A helpful book, clearly read

Timothy Keller's book is well-researched and spiritually deep while avoiding being bogged down in theological minutiae. Sean Pratt's narration is clear, understandable, and conversational.

Critical subject nicely done

A very comprehensive explanation of prayer as well as an encouragement to be more of what God wants us to be.

Helpful, thoughtful, complete

I love getting close to God and Jesus and being more cognizant of Holy Spirit. This book gives me plenty to fall back on if I get out of sync.
Speaking of sync, I really enjoyed my synched Kindle and Audible books. Terrific narration.

Wonderful

this book is the most helpful book on prayer I've ever read. I finished listening to it in just a few days and I'm starting back into it now. Even those few days changed my prayer life.

Beautiful

I loved how the book explained the meaning of prayer of different religions. I didn’t like ALL the instructions given on prayer. Some were good ideas, but seemed burdensome. If I were a younger Christian I believe I would attempt to carry that load! All in all, I loved the book, I found many sections that stirred my heart to worship our great God and King!

classic t. keller

rigorous, structured and thorough. A book that tests the limits of the audible format. Perhaps better in print.

Great, insightful exhaustive analysis of prayer

Uses a great amount of sources to compile a summary of the background and practical aspects of prayer. Draws particularly on the puritans and those from centuries past while taking into account the modern day pressures of life.

Elevates prayer to its rightful high place in the Christian life. A book to be read again and again and a must for any believer.
