Publisher's summary

A battle rages within every one of us every day. It's the clash between our sense of stubborn self-sufficiency and God's call to recognize that we're really nothing without Him. It's pride versus humility. And it's a fight we can't win without looking repeatedly to Christ and the cross.

C. J. Mahaney raises a battle cry to daily, diligently, and deliberately weaken our greatest enemy (pride) and cultivate our greatest friend (humility). His thorough examination clarifies misconceptions, revealing the truth about why God detests pride and turns His active attention to the humble.

Because pride is never passive, defeating it demands an intentional attack. The blessing that follows is God's abundant favor.

Excellent book lots of guidance!

Loved this book because the act of humility is using the presence of grace as you learn to serve Him! This book is for that purpose in my Humble opinion! Some references to other good books as well!

Great view on humility.

This was a great book for me. It really helped me to see how pride gets into everything if we let it and how to pursue humility.

Very Practical

This book hit real close at home and allowed me to see issues that I didn't realize were there. It also provided lots of ways to defeat pride through humility in practical steps that can be taken daily. I highly recommend!

The practices of being humble

CJ Mahaney did a great job explaining the depths of Humility. I believe it is the overall fruit that contains all the rest. I love how he reaches biblical explenation when discipline your children and the humility that it takes to do so.

Insightful and helpful

This short book gives powerful insight into humility and how to cultivate it in your life. No false humility found in the writing, only a sober acknowledgment of the pride we all have inside. It is a blend of the theology of pride verses humility, and a practical way to combat pride by cultivating humility. This should be on every believer’s bookshelf!

Amazing book

Loved the author's humility in writing it. He writes as a fellow traveler rather than having already arrived. The practicals are helpful. And most importantly it's centered on Christ. Highly recommend.

Convicting

I started off not knowing what to expect or how much it would apply to my life. Not because I think I have accomplished humility but because my life doesn’t look like the average persons.
Let me tell you if you leave this book not convicted you were not paying attention.
