Publisher's Summary

Alex always knew romance would be complicated. When love came into his life with wings and horns, he knew those complications would be a little unusual. Four months after meeting Rachel and Lorelei, Alex finally has a handle on divine visitations, supernatural enemies, and the echoes of reincarnation. He might even survive bringing an angel and a demon home for Christmas with the family.

He might not survive what comes next. A favor for friends brings Alex into a heated feud among Seattle's sorcerers. The lords of Hell aren't pleased with the chaos wrought by Lorelei's escape, and they're looking for payback. Worst of all, her angry ex-boyfriend has blown into town...and he just happens to be the Angel of Death.

Guilty pleasure with a great storyline

I've come to truly love and look forward to this series from Elliot Kay. The story line is fast-paced, well thought out and exciting. His characters have a sense of believe-ability and depth that comes from doing great character development work. The interconnections between characters is deep and well done (pun intended) and is one of the most important aspects of the story line.

Tess Irondale is an amazing narrator with a great range of vocal talents and voices that really put one into the story. She shifts flawlessly from character to character and makes each of these books come to life. Favorite narrator EVER!

really enjoyable audiobook

What did you love best about Personal Demons?

I like the series, and have grown to enjoy the characters. This one isn't as long as the predecessors but I did enjoy it a lot. It definitely doesn't focus so much on the sex in this one which was nice. Don't get me wrong, there is still plenty of sexuality in this book, it's just not as raunchy as the first couple of books in the series.

Any additional comments?

I really have enjoyed this whole series. I would say this is probably my favorite book in the series, because it is not as sexually focused and potentially sets up some interesting futures for the protagonists.

Dissappointing

This sequel lacks the erotica and suffers from the standard Hollywood mistake of the mistaken belief that the only way to continue a story is an magnitude escalation. Sure this book has bigger explosions and badder monsters. How did the author come to think that is what we came for?

Only get this book if you only cared about the juvenile meta plot and need more of it.

very good

ok first off, Tess Irondale ROCKS!!! One the best narrators I have heard she has narrated all of the Good Intentions books and is just amazing. Now to the book, enjoyed the continued adventures of the crew, and the further development of the characters can't wait for book 4

Most disappointing of the three

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes if they had read the previous two but only when they had nothing else to read at the time.

Would you be willing to try another book from Elliott Kay? Why or why not?

Yes, but hesitantly.

Which character – as performed by Tess Irondale – was your favorite?

Rachel has always been my favorite but she does not get enough time on the page we spend way too much time with Lorelei.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

It takes a devil to defeat a devil

Any additional comments?

I have become more and more disillusioned with Lorelei and personally think that the relationship between her and the others is not equal. She does not discuss decisions she just does it and expects all to understand and support her, now that she is not bound if I was the protagonist I would leave her as this is not an equal relationship she has all of the control and authority and always has.

Amazing!

Once again Kay delights us with a tale of sexy supernatural wonder. I feel like this book is a tipping point for this series. We're past all of the novelty of sexy fun time and really getting into the meat of the universe. We get to see Hell and the various rulers there of to a far greater extent than at any time before. New dangers arise from totally unexpected directions. Lorelei and Rachel are forced to make extremely difficult choices as their relationship with each other and with Alex continues to evolve. Tess Irondale does, as always, an amazing job voicing the story.

All in all, the best book yet in this universe. There's a pretty good sequel hook at the end that rose organically from the story. I cannot wait to see where Kay takes this world. No matter what, it's going to be a hell of a ride.

Back At It Again

When I saw the option to pre-order this book pop up I was ecstatic. This has been another welcome opportunity to travel along with these wonderful characters, brought to life by both Elliot and Tess! I couldn't stop listening.

Honestly, my only real disappointment was with the lack of appearance by the characters introduced in "Tales of High Adventure" which I highly recommend to any who missed it.

Thank you once again Tess for your incredible performance and unbelievable vocal range. I can only hope that Elliot continues to share these stories with us.

Disappointed with direction

Alex, Lorelei and Rachel all began this adventure as three people bound together by magic. Let me say now before I go on SPOILERS are coming.....

Alex is reduced to a minor role, reduced to a side character that isn’t more then anything other then a sex toy for Lorelei. He no longer has a say or opinion about anything or makes any attempt to be part of the story. Outside the damsel in distress (which I liked about his role) he is pointless.

Rachel is now just a sex crazed angel who has no character development due to well if she told you being a mortal you’ll go crazy. Best part about her in this book was she picked up a truck.

And finally Lorelei... she is the center of the stage has been for two books and pushes everyone to side characters. I would be ok with this if not for the fact that Kay made it seem like these books are about Alex, Rachel and Lorelei. They are really just about Lorelei doing whatever she wants.

Over all I’m disappointed, these three books up to this point have gone down hill. It feels like Kay no longer wants to write about these characters and the interesting characters get no page time.

So much potential was skipped over.

Final thoughts, if you want a book about a demon fucking, fighting and narrow minded, read these three books.

Fantastic

Have purchased all 3 books and can’t wait for next. It’s NOT all about mature matter, yes it’s in there of course so no under 18 for sure. But the story is great fights from all sides, and keeps you interested. Do I recommend this yes it’s worth your time.

Excellent, but Has Issues

At the highest level, this is the weakest of the three Alex Carlisle stories; there is too much time spent on what is plainly foundation for future story material, especially given how little of such groundskeeping was done in the first two stories. Also, the politics of hell needed a bit more background or fleshing out, so to speak, than was provided. An example would be whether each duke or duchess of hell has any power advantage over any other, such as how Belial had an advantage over Baal, resulting in Lorelei being transferred to Belial. Furthermore, why is Lileth different? Also, those of us that read the initial versions of Good Intentions know that some of the shared sex play in this story contradicts what Lorelei identified as personally injurious to her in the early versions of Good Intentions.

Ms. Irondale seemed to struggle with the voices of Alex, Drew, and Wade this time - the three voices were less distinct in this release than in the previous two.

It is still a great story, and certainly Mr. Kay has a wide-open landscape in which to further the story arc. Hopefully we will see a new chapter in the story arc in 2019, worthy of the three published to date.

Brilliant addition to the series

Have listened to both of the books in the series so far which are both fantastic and this is a worthy addition.
Tess Ironside brings all of the characters to life together with a story that captivates this is an excellent book.
I cannot wait for the next instalment.
