Publisher's Summary

(Minor spoiler and warning at the bottom of the blurb. Please read all the way through.)

Sameerixis, or Sam for those who actually know him, isn’t what you’d call normal.

He’s a door-to-door salesman, of sorts. One that peddles wares, wishes, and whims to anyone willing to pay his prices.

Prices that usually involve a few years of your life, maybe a handful of days, or a single night of pleasure that’ll cost a few hours.

He’s an incubus that solves problems. Mental, emotional, spiritual, material, and anything and everything in between. Sam can provide an answer and resolution.

A one-man shop and service provider.

Or he was. When he had work available to him.

Unfortunately, he’s been unable to work for quite a while, due to the simple fact that he’s been imprisoned against his will by an old business partner.

Except something’s changed.

A portal, a way back to the planes, has opened with his name on it. On the other side isn’t what he wished for nor what he feared.

Sam’s made the choice to go back and start up his business again. From the ground up. In just a moment he’ll make that leap over and into another plane.

Little does he know that with that first step he’ll move straight from the known, to the unknown, then to the inadvisable.

Warning: This novel explores dark subjects, and what people will give up of themselves, and each other, to get what they want. The main character is written as a demon from another plane in a tough situation, and will not make choices that line up with societal and cultural norms.

It contains adult themes and moral ambiguities.

As with my previous work, explicit scenes are found within. It has violence and a harem relationship.

Reversed nature

Wonderful story, was kind of worried it'd be along the lines of Fostering Faust since it's another of his dark themed books, but it was rather surprising, touched on one of my favorite themes. Who says the shadows can't be protective, that darkness can't seek out evil, that only light can be good?

Surprising.

Much more than I expected based on the title and cover. Yes, it does get adult, but there is much more here too. I've been very satisfied by both Randi Darren and Andrea Parsneau in the past, so this was a guaranteed purchase for me. However, I did not have particularly high expectations for the story overall. I knew it'd be fun, but not that I'd truly develop an interest in the characters and their futures. Now, there is plenty of what you'd expect in a book about an Incubus, but it honestly makes light of itself, and the concept of this sort of story, about as much as it leans into it. Each encounter either adds to the character's depths or brings something new into the story. It is not only well done, but I am both pleasantly surprised and looking forward to more.

P.S.
There are hints of other stories the author has written, but nothing that a new reader would miss out on if they have yet to experience Randi's other books. Something to look forward to, if you do end up enjoying this one. Also William D. Arand books, which also contain relationships, but don't go into the details that Randi Darren books do.

randi darren's best yet

really enjoyed this one. if only I could have the powers of an incubus... lol...

pairs well with Swing Shift... I like how this book includes more "guest star appearances". some actually characters from a different timeline or plane of existence and others not a guest character appearance but mention of them or an element from other stories.

Always listen to books by Darren and Arand before any others lately. I truly appreciate the "balance" they achieve in their characters and plotlines. I can always expect the dark to be tempered by the light. I like the sex elements. Darren is more forward and Arand less so in a more implied fashion. I think their writing is great.

The characters take form and shape and I believe them. Yet at the same time because of the sexual nature of their writing I am also not too deeply ensnared by the characters. They become true conduits of fun, heart lightening, evolving, seemingly self aware entertainment.

The sex is imperative for their books to be what they are. That aside they both are great authors who choose to manifest their books as they do. They like to write this style and I think their books are better for it! I can't say enough and you can't go wrong with an audiobook by Randi Darren.

Lastly... Andrea Parsneau is great. what talent she is. She is the essence magic that bring both authors books to life... what a great job she has!

Erotic Fantasy

The story was good for a fantasy and the reading performance was the best part.

Couldn't do it.

Before I start, I will say that I couldn't finish this book. I kept stopping and starting for lack of interest and boredom. I got about 1/3 of they way through before throwing in the towel. This book is boring. I like William D. Arrand/Randi Darren, but wow, this is by far his worst work.

First off the main character is uninteresting and is one dimensional. The way he is set up makes him doomed from the start. A character that needs sex to do anything gets old very fast. All of the ladies in the story have some intriguing quality that just falls flat and disappoints the more they showcase

The plot is rather simple, build power. That's it. There is some mention of an antagonist, but they are so irrelevant it isn't worth mentioning. There was also a very forced tie into Swing Shift that was kinda cool.

Andrea Parsneau was her usual great self. She can't carry a poorly written story though.

Randi Darren is one of the most talented and skilled author's I enjoy his work greatly. And this book is no different and with the voice acting talents and skills of Andrea Parsneau who makes the characters and world come alive with the narration of this book. I'm can't wait to buy the next book in this series 12/10 stars a must to listen to and owned.
