The "Love and Logic" approach relies on punishment, which can cause shame and damage parent-child trust. Ultimately, authoritative parenting provides the best balance for healthy child development.
You’ll want to read something more helpful to the relationship and child’s mental health over a lifetime.
Two books I recommend are, “good inside,” and “how to talk so little kids will listen.” They provide valuable parenting strategies focused on fostering emotional intelligence and effective communication with young children.
"Good Inside" emphasizes empathy and connection, helping parents understand their children's emotions, validate their feelings, and provide guidance through challenges.
"How to Talk So Little Kids Will Listen" offers practical tools for parents to communicate effectively with their children. It emphasizes acknowledging feelings, setting boundaries, and engaging cooperation, fostering self-esteem, and emotional intelligence.
Both books align with the authoritative parenting style, promoting a healthy parent-child relationship while addressing the emotional needs and challenges children face during their developmental years. This is the best approach according to developmental psychology.
Authoritarian parenting is damaging and harmful.
