I Don’t Want to Be an Empath Anymore is a gift for the jaded empath searching for authenticity in spirituality, and spirituality in being authentic - something beyond the clichéd, positive affirmations that seem to invalidate our anger, sadness, and pain. When we feel broken - and when real damage has been done, it’s not always helpful to ignore our feelings and tell ourselves that we are perfect and whole.

Psychotherapist David Richo examines the science of triggers and our reactions of fear, anger, and sadness. He helps us understand why our bodies respond before our minds have a chance to make sense of a situation. By looking deeply at the roots of what provokes us - the words, actions, and even sensory elements like smell - we find opportunities to understand the origins of our triggers and train our bodies to remain calm in the face of painful memories.

Story
Women have been making strides towards equality for decades, or so we’re often told. They’ve been increasingly entering male-dominated areas of the workforce and consistently surpassing their male peers in grades, university attendance, and degrees. They’ve recently stormed the political arena with a vengeance. But despite all of this, the payoff is—quite literally—not there: the gender pay gap has held steady at about 20% since 2000. And the number of female CEOs for Fortune 500 companies has actually been declining.

Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Faced with the choice of starting a company or joining a large corporation, Steve Jobs believed that it was "more fun to be a pirate than to join the navy". But for innovators inside established companies, making a distinction between being a pirate and joining the navy is a fallacy. We have to figure out a way to become pirates in the navy! This is a step-by-step guide to getting continuous innovation done in companies and reshaping them in the process. It is for anyone involved in corporate innovation and driving company change.

Publisher's Summary
Break up with blame and create happier, healthier relationships - replace negative self-talk with self-love, forgiveness, compassion, and joy!
The desire to love and be loved and feel valued is universal. Seems easy enough, but for most people it is a constant, and often silent, struggle. Toxic emotions such as fear, resentment, guilt, and shame drain your energy, deflate the spirit, and make you feel stuck. Without attentive care and healing, it's easy to get trapped in false belief patterns that build toxic emotional and energetic "imprints." These imprints set the stage for how we experience the world and how we react to it.
Instead of pushing people away, self-sabotaging, or using excuses and distractions as defense mechanisms, intuitive spiritual healer Leah Guy teaches you how to apply mindful healing tools to shift your mindset, heal old wounds, and develop happier, healthier relationship patterns in Overcoming Toxic Emotions. This powerful book will help you:
- Understand how toxic emotions have been impeding your happiness
- Overcome your toxic emotional and energetic imprints
- Manifest a more vibrant, satisfying life
For anyone who feels emotionally stuck or unable to move forward in a positive and productive way, this book is for you. Take the self-care steps you need with Overcoming Toxic Emotions.

A book you will want to gift to everyone you know.
Through the pandemic so many things changed for me, I am self-employed and was not able to work from March to August, my dog died in April and my husband gave up his office and worked full time at home. Over the past several months I have been reevaluating my life and looking at what is really important. Overcoming Toxic Emotions was very timely. I could not wait to dive into this book. We have all used “It’s not you - it’s me” this phrase gave me freedom knowing I am truly are responsible for my feelings and I can say what I truly need and not shame someone in the process. The author presents the material in a loving, accepting way and uses her AAA method for transformation - it’s brilliant! I have read so many self-help books only to finish and not have a resolution. Leah makes it personal by sharing stories and gives easy to follow solutions for change. I was truly amazed by the short List of Valid Emotions vs. the extensive List of Toxic Emotions. Guilt and Shame have always kept me stuck, and while reading and applying the method I have been able to reframe them to help me create healthier relationships. This will be a book that I will share with family and friends. I will also keep it on my bookshelf and revisit it for a refresher. Thank you, Leah Guy for your insight, experience and creating a book that is truly helpful in clearing old dysfunctional messages and creating healthy boundaries.

I enjoyed this book. I think it would have been better if the Author read it. I would also have liked a PDF with the definitions and questions at the end of the chapter. I don't usually listen to "self help" type of books, however I am very glad I listened to this one. I also really enjoyed her Modern Sage Podcast. Leah is insightful and very informative. Thank You for the work you put in this book to help others.

A book that makes you want to do the work.
This book made me uproot my negative thoughts which are linked to my toxic emotions. It too made me realise that adopting the ‘it’s not you, but me’ attitude will create better results in removing/releasing negative beliefs, as the importance of knowing that it’s your life, your responsibility- only I can change my outcome. I’m already reviewing past and present situations with the 3 A method that Leah explains in the book, going to re-read and study this book so I can put into action the other practical exercises shared in this book.
I recommend this book to anyone who is currently seeking better results in their life and/or are on a self help journey.
