When Max Krupin - Russia's leader - discovers that his kidney cancer has spread to his brain, he's determined to hide his diagnosis. He begins by getting rid of anyone threatening to him - as well as creating chaos in the region to keep the world's attention diverted. Soon, Krupin's illness becomes serious enough that he needs a more dramatic diversion, prompting him to invade the Baltics. Desperate to understand what's causing Krupin's unusually erratic behavior and Russia's aggressive moves in the region, America begins working with Russia's disgraced prime minister to stage a coup.

Story
The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had ran the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

Publisher's Summary
In the next thrilling novel in the number-one New York Times best-selling Mitch Rapp series, the anti-terrorism operative heads to Pakistan to confront a mortal threat he may not be prepared for. In fact, this time he might have met his match.
Mitch Rapp is used to winning.
But in this follow-up to number-one New York Times best-selling The Survivor, the CIA operative finds himself chasing false leads from continent to continent in an effort to keep Pakistani nukes from falling into the hands of terrorists. Together with friend and colleague Scott Coleman, Rapp struggles to prevent the loss of these lethal weapons, particularly because Russia is also interested in the nukes, though not for the same reason as Rapp and Coleman.
Soon, it becomes alarmingly clear that the forces in Moscow are bent on fomenting even more chaos and turmoil in the Middle East and Rapp must go deep into Russian territory, posing as an American ISIS recruit. There, he uncovers a plan much more dangerous and insidious than he ever expected, one that could have far-reaching and catastrophic consequences.
Written with the same breathless tension and heart-racing action as Vince Flynn's greatest novels, Mitch Rapp's latest adventure is as timely and provocative as ever.

Which way to that pasture?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I think Kyle Mills has picked up just where Vince Flynn left off. I love the direction the story has taken, WOW what a wild roller coaster of a ride: hoping for Mitch's old new friend to become more that just someone he protects, wondering what is going to happen with Scott, what's happening with the nuclear weapons, who is this new person after Mitch? And the list goes on.
As for people saying same old thing, I guess you could say that about all the popular series from Reacher and Davenport to Gentry, Rhyme and Ryan...
I enjoy series, it's like sitting down and catching up with an old friend and I am so glad this series will continue.
This book is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
George Guidall gave an EXCELLENT performance as always.

Strong, fast paced, good vs. evil story
Any additional comments?
Written by Kyle Mills in tribute to Vince Flynn, this is the second book in the "Mitch Rapp" series since Flynn passed away in 2013. And tributes they are! Mr. Mills has truly done justice to a series that Vince Flynn began in 1999. It is nearly impossible to feel the difference between the stories conceived and written by the amazing original author and Mills.
In this latest installment, the hero Mitch Rapp and his regular supporting cast are tracking what they believe to be an al-Qeada operation to steal and detonate loosely guarded tactical nukes of Pakistan. But because of deception and possible insider double dealing, Rapp and his team are a step behind and frequently endangered by seemingly bad intel.
So, at first glance (and maybe second and third) the story is stock and hackneyed: Bad guys with only slight techno skills want nukes and good guys move heaven and earth to prevent that. But there are very good twists, turns and motivations that refresh the old saw and turn it into a sterling silver story.
George Guidall being one of three, in my opinion, exceptional narrators for this genre of story (the others being Dick Hill and Ray Porter) the story is unmarred by horrible accents and overacting frequently found in books where Middle Eastern and European accents abound. Guidall does a fabulous job of letting the story talk, not trying infuse it with his own brilliance... which makes him brilliant!
The story is fast paced keeping the action moving without being weighted down by so many characters and subplots that you need a computer and scoring app to keep track. Enjoyable and different, this is a great book even if you have not had the chance to enjoy the previous books in the series.

Completely ignore negative ratings and reviews...
...Order to Kill was worth waiting for. Author Kyle Mills was true to Vice Flynn's style. He wrote a great political/espionage thriller. Vince Flynn has been my favorite author since Term Limits, his only novel with a protagonist other than Mitch Rapp, in 1997. Beginning with his introduction of Mitch Rapp in Transfer of Power in 1999 I have anxiously awaited his next Rapp novel. Every one has earned 5 stars! Vince Flynn is simply the best author of political/espionage thrillers ever; he was the master! The characters are vivid, the technology true, and the stories credible. Vince's death from prostate cancer in mid 2013 felt like the loss of a very close friend to me.
I hoped that Mark Greaney would take over the Mitch Rapp franchise because he is the second most talented author of the genre ever. When Kyle Mills was selected instead I had grave doubts. After The Survivor in 2015 and now Order to Kill those doubts have been put to rest. Kyle Mills is true to Vince Flynn.
Every Mitch Rapp novel is a 5 star treasure. Add Order to Kill to that list. George Guidall has narrated to perfection the 12 most recently released audiobooks in the series.
Order to Kill joins Term limits and the prior 14 Mitch Rapp novels in having my highest possible recommendation.

Much anticipated-good listen
I'm an avid Vince Flynn -Mitch Rapp reader/listener. And anything read by GG is incredible!
The pace in the beginning was fast & "can't STOP listening ", slowed a bit but never faltered.
Given that I've read all of the original Vince Flynn's so many times, it was clear to me that this wasn't truly his writing (RIP VF💜).
I missed the team/personality interactions as it was a lot of solo Mitch. SPOILER alert: The pre-release tease of this talks about Scott & Mitch so I was disappointed that Scott disappeared so early on. And I found myself thinking "if they kill Scott...I'm all done" lol.
The ending was also predictable, and not terribly dramatic. But leaves the door open for future adventures there.
The Claudia relationship could've been more detailed as well. It was just surface stuff- given the intensity of the history it didn't address it well enough.
BUT- Mitch is still one of my favorites & always will be. Finished listening in 1 day!

This ties with my Favorite Mitch Rapp Book!!
Would you listen to Order to Kill again? Why?
YES I read the hardcopy and I wasn't even halfway done before I pre ordered the audio! Can Rapp win a fight against someone as good as he is that he doesn't know is hunting him?
What was one of the most memorable moments of Order to Kill?
Rapp saving someone that Rapp fans will remember! Does Rapp find a new love and can he deal with the feelings that comes with a new love?
Which scene was your favorite?
The gunfight that Rapp and others get in that has one of the old favorites hanging on to life! Does he/she survive or not is a big question.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It will have you laughing and ready to cry as you read/listen to it!
Any additional comments?
This is a fast hold on tight action thriller that any Mitch Rapp Fan must have! Kyle Mills has keep the memory of Vince Flynn alive with another Best Seller!

Rapp is the same man, but this plot couldn't hold my attention
There was just too much going on and it felt disjointed. While I'm glad to revisit Claudia and her daughter, what does Claudia have to do with anything in the rest of the book (until the very end?)
I'm not sure what the Prelude in Siberia had to do with anything – unless this was the origin of weapontry. There are many scenarios but did not tied together smoothly (some having nothing to do with another.)
Unfortunately, this book is more outlandish and feels more like something like a Tom Clancy or Clive Cussler and less Vince Flynn – The Master. I saw and felt Flynn's mark all over The Survivor. I tried listening over and over but it is glaringly obvious that he is missing.
George Guidall's voice is growly and deep. I always enjoy hearing his performances.
I'm hanging on and have pre-ordered and have high hopes for the next book, Enemy of the State. It is my hope that Kyle Mills finds his way back to the mastery of Flynn – or as close as anyone can.
As a potential reader, I hope that you will take a moment and select yes below to the question "did you find this review helpful?" Thanks for taking the time to read it. Please consider "following" me here on audible.

Great Mitch Rapp Story!
This is a real Rapp novel complete with dry humor, compassion, and a few downright funny moments along with intense action. The progression of the characters' lives and relationships is moving in a way that seems natural and hopeful. I especially appreciate that. Had I not known differently, I'd have thought this book was written by Vince. He chose his successor well. Kyle Mills did a wonderful job of keeping the Rapp legacy alive and kicking. Thanks, Kyle!

Just retire Mitch Rapp....
Predictable, overly descriptive and boring. I think it's time to just leave these books, Kyle Mills does a poor job of continuing Vince Flynns series. There is no subtlty to it anymore. The intrigue and mysterious are solved in the next chapter. Two hours in and I already knew how it would end. I'm not new to this series and have read and listened to every one of the books in this series, but this by far is the worst. The main antagonist is laughable, and his character arc is exactly what you expect. Mitch comes across as robot that just destroys anything in his way, not the aged CIA veteran that he is. But it's the over use of description that really did it for me. Description is meant to help build a picture, in this it felt like it was pushing up the word count.
George Guidall does his usual brilliant performance, I honestly can't fault it.
In summary, just read/listen to one of the Vince Flynn books, because Kyle Mills is ruining this series.

Love it!
Kyle Mills continues to develop the character of Vince Flynn's Mitch Wrap as he fights to save the world from itself, this time battling an alliance of a corrupt Russian President and ISIS.
This story also gives a glimpse of hope and possible happiness in Wrap's future.....
Can't wait for the next installment!!
Narration By George Guidall superb, as always.

Getting better
The second Mitch Rapp novel by Kyle Mills is better than her first effort but still has a weak storyline which tails off in the last few chapters.
Lets have a convincing ending with more drama next time.

Mitch never disappoints. Great story.
As usual couldn't put it down. I see the Russian reappearing in the future, hopefully on Mitch's side.

Read by old man
I loved the story, but it sounded like it was read by an old man with breathing problems. It took several attempts to get beyond the first chapter as I had such trouble listening.
