‘’Want a look into the shadowy world of US special operations? Sons of Valor puts you on the front lines. Nobody does action like Andrews & Wilson!'’—Jack Carr, Navy SEAL sniper and New York Times bestselling author of The Devil’s Hand

A new generation of elite American warriors faces off against an enemy unlike any other.

Sons of valor …

Navy SEAL Keith “Chunk” Redman has been one of the military’s top doorkickers since the day he pinned on his trident: loyal, single-minded, lethal. Tasked to lead a new, covert team of Tier One SEALs—the most elite special operators in the world—Chunk can no longer simply rely on the status quo. To safeguard America, he needs help to stay a step ahead of its adversaries.

Brilliant at spotting patterns in the data that others miss, ex-CIA analyst Whitney Watts sees evidence of a troubling link between illicit Chinese arms sales and an attack on a US military convoy in Afghanistan. If she’s right, it would portend not only massive casualties, but a devastating threat to global stability.

Sons of war …

From the ashes of a never-ending war, a new generation of terrorists has arisen: sophisticated, tech-savvy, and hiding in plain sight among America’s allies. Battered by the Taliban and by the West, they call themselves al Qadr—Power and Destiny—and they’re determined to wrest back control of their homeland. Armed with a powerful combat drone, they can strike with deadly precision at US forces in the region—but their ambitions reach far, far beyond that.

A new legacy …

The new Tier One’s first mission will require them to not only prove themselves, but to stop an enemy who’s using military tactics against them. Chunk and his team aren’t just the tip of the spear; they’re America’s first, last, and best counterterrorism defense. And they couldn’t have arrived at a more urgent—and perilous—time.

I love that there's an author that finally had the balls to include enemy perspective. Other than that pretty much the same old SOF Story but told decently and I enjoyed well enough to pay for the next book in the series.

An author that finally included enemy perspectives

Not the sort of book I normally read (a roughty tuffty book for the boys) but the characters and tight storyline drew me in completely. The interplay between the cunning and calculating terrorist team and the Tier One Seal team trying to identify and stop them was engrossing. Both sides had an unwilling tech/analyst genius being swept into a dangerous high stakes world adding additional character depth. I was definitely rooting for Heels/Whitney. A great counterfoil to the very masculine world of the Seals. During this book, I passed my 4 months of audible listening in a little over 2 years so I consume a lot of audible hours. I like trying new genres and I’ll be downloading the next in the series. The authors did a great job with keeping the tension high and the characters deep with multiple layers making them believable. I even grew to accept Ray Porter trying to do a female voice!

I read military history as well as some mission based fiction. There is no after thought, about how they feel because they don’t feel, they just do! Add in a female analyst at the top of her game, but not a Navy Seal, you get thoughtful, interesting takes on all of the aspects of a critical mission. I loved it!!

This was a well-written book. The sequel to Collateral, and hopefully not the author’s last one.

Great story!

The book was well written, but it was the best narration of over 90 books I have listened to on Audible. This guy brought this book to life and kept you enthralled with the situations these warriors found themselves in. Don't know Ray Porter, but I will be more inclined to listen to any book he has narrated. Great job.

Great story. Great narration.

Nobody throws you faster, harder, or better into "The Suck" than Andrews and Wilson. Period. So it goes with this, book 1 of The Sons of Valor series as fans see a return of a SEAL favorite, Chunk. He's back and now leading a Tier One team- the best and the baddest of all SOFs.

Pacing is so perfect in this novel, it's like a cardiac workout. Without the warmup. You're thrown into the action, then given some downtime to recoup (maybe), then into a new, bigger, fiercer battle. Shampoo. Rinse. Repeat. As for the audiobook narration, I simply can't imagine anyone being better at this type of story than Ray Porter. His steely calm voices in battle, his blooded SEAL banter, and his emotional range are superb. Porter's amazing accents on top-of-accents (i.e.- Pakistani speaking with an English accent) are not to be missed. His voicings take a great book and make it phenomenal.

The characters are genuine and (many are) endearing. Tier One, "Spooks," contractors, politicians, terrorists, or innocents; all play to their strengths and sometimes show their weaknesses. Chunk, as leader of Tier One, is everything one would expect. Whitney, as a top-notch ex-CIA analyst thrown into the deep end, shows her brilliance, ambivalence, and eventually her resilience. They are both awesome personalities in their own right.

Andrews & Wilson provide everything a reader of this genre could want. It's all in there, in stellar fashion.
