Publisher's summary

There is one cold case that has plagued Special Agent Riley Paige for her entire career, dwelling at the corners of her consciousness, forcing her to return to it again and again. The only case she has never solved, she has finally put it out of her mind.

Until she gets a call from the murdered victim's mother.

It spurs Riley to face the case once again, and to not give up until she has found answers.

Yet Riley barely has time to catch her breath when she receives a lead for another cold case, one which, if possible, strikes an even deeper note within her. It is a lead that promises to solve the case of her own mother's killer.

And it comes from Shane Hatcher.

A dark psychological thriller with heart-pounding suspense, Once Cold is book eight in a riveting new series - with a beloved new character - that will leave you tossing and turning late into the night.

Book nine in the Riley Paige series will be available soon.

Review

I enjoy the story but expect a different voice each time I listen to another of the Riley Paige story. Once again, same British person.

GOOD STORY BAD PERFORMANCE

I've read several Riley Paige novels and the stories are always good. I decided when I bought this one to buy the augible. Boy was I disappointed. Riley Paige is an American FBI agent but the narrator is British and has a not swo pleasant voice. I know now never to waste money on the auduble version of Riley Paige novels. Buy the book or ebook, don't buy the Audible version!

Narrating breaks or makes

The narrator is a horrible overactive. Sometimes ruins the vibe of the book. The accent is off putting. Doesn’t fit with the book. Wish BP would choose another. She’s done lots of the books by author n I haven’t found any positive feedback regarding the narrator.

So disappointed

I am so disappointed that this author chose this narrator. I have read all previous books. I was very excited when I saw the new books in the series in audible since reading is now difficult for me. It is doubtful I will get to enjoy the rest of the series. The narrator has a British accent, which makes no sense for the book. All characters are US residents. It really throws the entire vibe of the story off. In addition, I do not care for her voice. I think there are several times in casual conversation that the reading is overly exaggerated and does not flow well. I am not sure I would enjoy her narration even if the book was based in England or English characters. I wish I would have tried a sample before ordering. I was so excited that I only focused on which was the last book I read in the series.
