Publisher's Summary

The Powerful Concluding Novel to The Restoration Chronicles

When news that the wall of Jerusalem is broken down and its gates have been burned with fire, Nehemiah, Jewish cupbearer to King Artaxerxes in Persia, seeks God's guidance. After fasting and prayer, he's given leave to travel to Jerusalem and rebuild the city wall, not anticipating all the dangers that await him on his arrival. The leaders of the surrounding nations become his fierce enemies, plotting to assassinate him and halt the work. A drought, meanwhile, has left the country impoverished, many families resorting to selling their children as bondservants just to keep from starving.

Capturing the rebuilding of the wall through the eyes of a number of characters, On This Foundation is a powerful exploration of faith in the midst of oppression and hope that, in spite of appearances, the gracious hand of God is upon those who believe.

The Restoration Chronicles Book 3

I absolutely loved this series!!! Lynn Austin is by far my favorite author. This is a biblical fiction series occurring during the lives of the prophets. This specific book involves Nehemiah.Lynn Austin is able to take the story of Nehemiah and make it so riveting that you can't stop listening. After each book, I went to the scripture and was surprised to find hour incredibly accurate it was. Entertaining and educational. I would recommend reading this in order and if you have not read the Gods and Kings series, then do so before this series. Amazing. You will not be disappointed.

Mesmerizing

Nehemiah rose in King Artaxerxes’ court to be a trusted cupbearer, but his heart burns with grief when he learns of the state the holy city of Jerusalem is in, even after the return of the exiles. Obtaining permission from the king to rebuild the wall around the city, Nehemiah returns as the provincial governor. However, he never imagined the dangers and difficulties he would face.

Not only is this a story about Nehemiah but also the people of Judea -- nobles and servants. I found it enthralling, but I was disappointed when it ended with some loose ends. For example, I wanted to know what happened to Aaron, I would have liked for Hannah to have been more than just content in her marriage, and it would have been nice to have seen Dan’s wedding take place. Regardless, however, this whole series has been mesmerizing. #Inspiring #BibleTimes #OldTestamentSetting #Nehemiah

love Lynn Audtin!

I thoroughly enjoyed this whole Restoration series. As usual the author makes Bible history real and human with fictional characters, but always true to Scripture.

Follow in the Bible

I have listened to this book 3 times. This last time I opened my Bible to the book of Nehemiah and followed along.
That enriched the experience even more. Lynn Austin does a great job with her research.

Lukewarm Series

I can't say I enjoyed this series, but I bought all three and stuck through it. Since I've worked through all Austin's books now except her other Biblical trilogy, I may stop here. These left no impression whatsoever on me. I would recommend sticking with her earliest works of non-Biblical historical fiction. They were excellent.
