Publisher's Summary

International best-selling author Bobby Akart, one of America's favorite storytellers, delivers up-all-night thrillers to readers and listeners in 245 countries and territories worldwide.

This is how the world ends. Not with a bang, but with many nuclear bombs detonated around the planet. It was no longer a topic of conversation around the dinner table as in years past. Nobody was prepared, including the world's governments. Yet the threat was always real, and the devastation was predictable.

The damage was incalculable. Millions died at the points of impact. Nuclear winter spread across the globe. A rapidly cooling climate shocked humanity and all living things...to their death.

Akart's new Nuclear Winter series depicts a world on the edge of nuclear Armageddon. Nuclear Armageddon became reality and ordinary Americans are paying the price.

This is more than the story of nuclear conflict. It's about the devastating effects wrought by Nuclear winter. Our possible future is seen through the eyes of the Albright family whose roots stretch back to the early settlement of the Florida Keys.

While they fight for survival, they trek across a rapidly deteriorating landscape wrought with danger from both the elements and their fellow man.

It was not our fight, but it became our problem.

Bobby Akart delivers intense, up-all-night thrillers that has fans hoping for just one more chapter until the end.

A series that didn't warm me enough for 5 books

While I did enjoy the new spin on an apocalyptic adventure, IMO not BA’s best work. It was at best a three-book series, possibly four but each was just too short for a five-book series. Possibly to recoup $ incurred during C19.

Blew Me Away!

What a Ride! Great character development! Exciting, nail biting action! Sound science. Bobby Akart really does his homework! Can't wait to find out what comes next! Love Kevin Pierce's narration!

loving this story!

it's very engaging and I wasn't bored at all. it's full of action, drama, some love, education and hope! I love how the author educated the reader but not in a long drawn out boring way, that's not easy to do so kudos. I definitely recommend this series 😀

it was okish

I may have given it 1 more star but all of these people in this genre really have to stop using the same narrator. he does an amazing job but when you listen to all the books in this genre it gets pretty old and makes them all run together. as far as the story line it's OK. not great but not horrible. my suggestion is to wait for a box set and just get them all together.

I loved this book by Bobby Akart. I also loved the characters. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I would recommend this book and all of Bobby’s books. I listened to this book on audiobook.

Half a book, choped into 5 short parts. but okay..

This is a review of the 5 part book series as a whole and is spoiler free

the biggest disappointment was in the title of this series. nuclear winter played very little part in the story which takes place during the first month of what is described as at least a 10 year process that gets worse over time.
I would have liked to see time unfold with the very likeable characters in the story.

The next issue I have is with the accuracy of how fallout works. I found the explanations and specific events involving characters near the blast of a ground destination of a nuclear warhead hard to believe was well researched. there was no explanation of wind direction or range of radioactive fallout however references are made to the air quality that contained fallout are present which if was radioactive would have very likely resulted in sickness or death.

I did like the characters and their journeys. I think the end of the series was very premature with many things left unanswered and now makes me wonder why they were ever even brought up.

I dont regret listening to the books but I will likely avoid titles by the same author. who seemed to take half a book and choped it into 5 short parts.

as for the performance, many of the characters are older and so having an older voice actor was reasonable choice. however his range of voices seems low and at times I got annoyed with what I can only describe as shakey voice and some whistling in S's. I got used to it and I won't say it was a bad job because the narrator did have good emotion and presence.

Awesome!!

I love this series! The bad characters you want to slap. The good characters you totally cheer on! This book leaves on a bit of a cliffhanger, so get the next one before you finish.

4.5 stars

Excellent narration. Good story, though B.A. loves to stretch his yarns, as always. This series of 5 books could have easily been 2 or 3 books, but I’m along for the ride and enjoying them…even when they wander into the weeds of tedious details.

Enjoyed the story but not good value

I did enjoy this series but with each book I couldn’t help thinking how short they are. Don’t even last one day of gardening. I am already listening to and really enjoying my next, Slow Burn by Adair….a box set of 55 listening hours. Just as good as Akart but so much better value.
