Publisher's summary

Yellowstone is controlled by nature. Its beauty is breathless and tranquil. Crystal clear streams flow. Buffalo roam freely. It's what's happening beneath that will bring hellfire!

The Yellowstone series, a new disaster thriller from international best-selling author Bobby Akart, takes the listener on a thrill ride as a cataclysmic event of extinction level proportions ticks away like a time bomb, awaiting its moment. Millions of visitors visit the Yellowstone National Park every year blissfully unaware they are on top of the greatest killer man has ever known - the Yellowstone supervolcano. Beneath this primal allure simmers a catastrophic threat. A caldera the size of Mount Everest, created hundreds of thousand of years ago, holds back super-heated magma, rising and falling, looking for release. Scientists agree. The eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano is overdue for an eruption. Events have been set into motion that lit the fuse of the greatest disaster mankind has ever known. Is it going to happen? Yes. Do we know when? Anytime, or not within our lifetime, hopefully. But if it does...

The Yellowstone series is a wake-up call for those who disregard natural disasters as a threat. For most, the dangers we face from nature are not considered a disaster until they become a human catastrophe - quantified by body counts and economic damages. Otherwise, in most people's point of view, it is merely another blip in the 24-hour news cycle. The eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano will be more than a spectacle to grab our attention. It will be the end of the world as we know it.

About the Yellowstone series:

Volcanoes are the Earth's way of letting off steam. While most people look at volcanic eruptions as natural disasters, the fact of the matter is, without them, the Earth would explode. Deep beneath the surface of the planet, excess heat builds up, finding a way to vent. Like an overcrowded bus on a hot summer day, the overheated magma stews in its own madness, allowing pent-up frustrations to boil over, until it releases its fury - its hellfire - upon the world above. Yellowstone is quite simply the most potentially explosive, violent, deadly, active volcano on our planet, and scientists agree, a catastrophic eruption is inevitable. Yellowstone is extraordinary in its potential and is quite simply, Earth's greatest killer. You've been warned.

Hackneyed, lame, tedious

If you are considering this selection because of your interests in physical science and entertaining fiction you will be happier buying an episode of The Magic School Bus series. After the novel finishes the author solicits endorsements and cites the contributions of his scientific sources, despite his missionary appeals in the book. Well, he does throw in a lot of scientific trivia, but he clearly didn't consult any experts for help writing realistic motivations, dialogs, or character development. Unfortunately, the narrator's manner and voice reinforce the silliness of the exchanges between the characters. Try Scott Sigler's Earthcore for an author who can teach science in a spectacularly engaging style.

It wasn't bad, it just wasn't very good.

I purchase this genre for the suspenseful survival scenarios. There is none of that here.

Cast: Ash B., Dust E., Rock E., Smoke E., Scooby DooRight, a bureaucratic baddy named Wile E. and a cameo by our current Preez E. All cardboard characters wandering around a research paper, muttering wooden dialog (not helped by a lackluster narrator).

I have enjoyed other books by Bobby Akart, but will not be continuing with this series.

Another Excellent Start to a New Series

I have read over one-hundred post-apocalyptic books, but this is the only one that gave me goosebumps. This book really freaked me out; I’d rather an enemy I can see. Natural disasters are an accepted part of life, but the possibility of an extinction event is real. Not only did Yellowstone: Hellfire create this overwhelming sense of suspense and mystery, but it also taught me a lot about volcanoes in general. It is very apparent that Bobby Akart put in a lot of time researching volcanoes, and Yellowstone in particular. He imparts that knowledge in such a way that it is interesting and part of the story, instead of a boring lecture you’d receive by (some) teachers. The information is fascinating, and rather terrifying as well, with a well thought out storyline bringing it all together. Chris Abernathy is a great narrator who helps pull us into the story and adds to the natural suspense. Just like a volcanic eruption, this book is fast-paced, multi-tiered and one heck of a ride that you won’t (want to) escape! #Yellowstone #IssueFiction #Suspenseful #FemaleProtagonist #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes

Wow!!!

What an exciting, well written book with great character development and science to back up the story. I was hooked from the very first chapter with the dramatic helicopter rescue. The author obviously did careful research regarding the science of volcanology. I never knew about the super Calderon bubbling under several western states. The book was exciting and thought provoking. It makes one wonder if the fracking taking place in other regions will cause increased geothermic activity. Can't wait to listen to the rest of this series!

Oh my gosh! Bobby's done it again!

Okay, I could not wait for the ebook, so I found the Audible available. It is excellent. Darn Bobby has captured all the documentaries, and stupidness of bureaucrats and what nature thinks of it all. I have listened to this all in one sitting (recommended). And I want the next book NOW.
The reader Chris is new to me, and is really excellent to listen too. The characters are easily differentiated with his voice changes and inflections. The tensions and excitements are conveyed very well. I enjoyed listening to him.
Read the book, or listen to Chris read it too you.
This is going to be another hot to read/listen series. Bobby's done it again!

Must read, both educational and entertaining.

I thought enjoyed listening and learning from this book. In addition to the outstanding charter development there is a lot of scientific knowledge and information to understand the actual great from a Yelloston erruption. I highly recommend this book as an entertaining way to digest the science and get the facts. With out given away to much you may not learn the truth until it is to late to do anything. Read it now before it is to late. As the author is fun of saying "you do not know if the day before is the day before".

Returned for Audible Credit

I had to wait too long for the story to get interesting, so instead of waiting for things to pick up in book 2 I decided to return book 1.

What a Thrill

Yes it’s been done before but this book has an excellent blend of characters science and pace. Believable and strong storylines make for an excellent listen. Narration very good apart from a very bizarre and mainly laughable attempt by the narrator to attempt a Scottish accent. It doesn’t detract from the overall enjoyability as the narrator is excellent in all other respects. Going to get started on Book 2 now. 😎

political trump fanfiction

I really enjoy disaster stories. But I can't stand all the Trump fanboying. its particularly grating when in the real world Trump is obviously a failure in another gobal disaster.

I'd probably continue if the writing was brilliant but its average. don't brother. im going to go look for better disaster stories. ones where the writer isn't an obvious fan of a racist grifter.

New & fun Storyline

Not much to say really, a great story, well developed characters, thoughtful descriptions & lots of fascinating facts. Clearly well researched. Narration is terrific and I've already downloaded the sequel. Dreading getting to Book 3 and the drop off in the reviews. But for now am on a terrific ride and itching to go to Yellowstone. Enjoy the genre and this is an original take on it so makes for something new and fun to listen to.
