Publisher's summary

When I was 17 years old, I was told to stay away from Cole Devonport. Kids like him only ever meant trouble. I should have listened, but I didn't, and surprise, surprise, I was the one who got hurt. But escaping Cole didn't mean the end of my pain. Life has a way of screwing me over, and after joining the Army as a way of forgetting him, I suffered a loss I'll never recover from.

So now here I am, back in the town I ran away from, with my alcoholic father apparently looking after me.

The last thing I need is Cole showing up on my doorstep because nothing has changed - with his prison tattoos and don't-screw-with-me edge, Cole Devonport still means trouble.

No Second Chances is a stand-alone, second chance, contemporary romance. It is a full length novel with no cliff-hanger!

Great Romance!!

Any additional comments?

This was a great second chance romance. I fell in love with Cole and Gabby and they had great chemistry. Narrator did a good job bringing this story to life. I liked the military aspect of the story.

Second Chances ?

Any additional comments?

At the age of 17, Gabi Weston, the female lead, left her life without looking back.

Ten years have the past and she is back home where she runs into of Cole, the one

who broke her heart.

The author did well with creating well developed likable characters and believable conflict.

The story is told with a dual point of view which is always a great way to connect with

the characters.

The book is an overall Good Read.

Julia Farmer did well with the narration.

Really Enjoyed this Book

Any additional comments?

Very entertaining, engaging and thoroughly enjoyable. The story just pulls you right in and doesn't let go until the end.

Told through dual POV's and flashbacks into the past. .
Teenage first love that was influenced by outside factors to the point that it drastically changed the coarse of both of their lives. The past is not through with them yet.

Great characters. Both Gabi and Cole are likable characters and you can't help but root for them to get their HEA.

Cole - the bad boy who is really a good guy that made some questionable decisions, got caught in a bad situation and paid a heavy price.
Gabi- trying to escape from her guilt and heartache joins the Army. After returning home injured Gabi and Cole run into each other. What follows is not just second chance at first love but a chance to right some of things that have haunted them.

This is the first Marissa Farrar book that I have read/listened to, but it won't be the last.

Julia Farmer did a great job with the narration. She has one of voices that is perfect for narrating audiobooks. With each book she narrates she just gets better. Great character voices. I had to double check that it wasn't a dual narration book. Clearly spoken. Smooth even pace. She was able to convey all of the emotions of the characters.

Struggle through

I have good and bad things with the book over all it was good. But I struggled with some of the mentally of Gabi growing up with a 2 disabled parents from the army yes the sense of her being less and not showing her prosthetic is so true my father experienced this and the same with the ptsd and fireworks. I just hate how weak she was at times and struggled saying she wasn’t strong enough.

This Story Hooked Me

This story was so gritty and real, it wasn't hearts and butterflies it was a heartbreaking love story that just sucked you in. The story starts present day but through out the book you get flashbacks to 11 years earlier and what happened that put Cole and Gabi in the situations they are in right now.

Gabi is one of my favorite heroines EVER. She is so strong through out the book and her feelings were so real. Cole is the bad boy male lead in the book and he fits it perfectly. He had a rough start at life but he's trying to do better and you start off seeing him try to do better before Gabi even comes in the picture. I absolutely loved how Cole and Gabi were drawn to each other but they didn't just have Insta-love and get right back together, you saw and felt their feelings in the book and where they were with their recoveries.

Julia Farmer did a great job at the narrating, her voice was perfect for Gabi and Cole and the feel of the story.

A Second Chance For First Love

I'm a pushover for romance stories that deal with the military and the struggles of veterans, add in suspense and this audiobook is fantastic!

Gabi Weston and Cole Devonport meet at school as teenagers, both have had a rough upbringing, Gabby as the motherless child of an alcoholic father and Cole who has been brought up in the foster care system. Gabby is somewhat aloof, but eventually Cole breaks down the understandable and natural defenses that Gabby has built up to protect herself and they become first friends and then young lovers. At eighteen a naive Cole succumbs to the temptations of easy money and the resulting conflict ends up pulling them apart and setting them on separate paths, Cole to prison and Gabby into the military.

Eleven year later, fate brings them both back to their hometown, one broken in spirit, the other broken in body. The question is, can they overcome their past and help heal each other, can they have a second chance at love?

Excellent writing by Marissa Farrar and storytelling by Julia Farmer make this gem of a book shine. I look forward to more from this author and narrator.

Beautiful story... Perfect Narration

What made the experience of listening to No Second Chances the most enjoyable?

Julia Farmer`s performance did, she has the most beautiful story telling voice.

What other book might you compare No Second Chances to and why?

Not sure, and really I try to enjoy every new book/story for what it is in that moment. I very rarely compare books, that is unless they are very similar. This wasn't, it was unique and very enjoyable.

What about Julia Farmer’s performance did you like?

Everything, her female voice`s young and old all fantastic, her male voice was also brilliant. I think Julia is one of the very few narrators that can pull that off seamlessly, I was listening and never once thought twice about what could have been done better.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes a few, but the one that comes to mind is when Gabi and Cole see each other for the very first time after 10yrs

COMPLETELY ENGROSSING, FRESH SITUATION ROMANCE

Any additional comments?
I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

A heart in the right place doesn't guarantee right decisions. Although this is a familiar catalyst in many romances, it feels fresh in this one. I think it's because Cole isn't really a "bad boy." I felt the pain in his decisions. He's tough, handsome, an alpha, has a sad childhood, a record, and many regrets, but, he's a good man. Worth a second chance.

The narration was done very well. The male voice was spot-on BUT, being a dual POV, an actual male narrator for Cole would have been the bomb.
I was completely engrossed in the story and highly recommend it.
