Publisher's summary

FBI Special agent Brad Raines is facing his toughest case yet. A Denver serial killer has killed four beautiful young women, leaving a bridal veil at each crime scene, and he's picking up his pace. Unable to crack the case, Raines appeals for help from a most unusual source: Residents of the Center for Wellness and Intelligence, a private psychiatric institution for mentally ill individuals whose are extraordinarily gifted.

It's there that he meets Paradise, a young woman who witnessed her father murder her family and barely escaped his hand. Diagnosed with schizophrenia, Paradise may also have an extrasensory gift: The ability to experience the final moments of a person's life when she touches the dead body.

In a desperate attempt to find the killer, Raines enlists Paradise's help. In an effort to win her trust, he befriends this strange young woman and begins to see in her qualities that most "sane people" sorely lack. Gradually, he starts to question whether sanity resides outside the hospital walls...or inside.

As the Bride Collector picks up the pace-and volume-of his gruesome crucifixions, the case becomes even more personal to Raines when his friend and colleague, a beautiful young forensic psychologist, becomes the Bride Collector's next target. The FBI believes that the killer plans to murder seven women. Can Paradise help before it's too late?

A LITTLE TO LONG...

Good story but way, way to long, I felt like there wasn't any depth to the characters. I couldn't relate to any of them.

Great thriller!

I really enjoyed this story. It was different from your normal thrillers. I enjoyed the main characters, the protagonist and the antagonist views. The narrator was good most of the time: I loved his different voices he used for his characters. At times, however, it felt like his reading was mechanical or jerky when he was the Bride Collector's character. I loved his character voice for Rowdy best, but I enjoyed all his variations with his voices for characters. I bet it was fun to read for him

Terrible Book and Gruesome

I agree with Betty & Kerry. It is poorly written and poorly read. Don't waste you money unless you like gruesome scenes.

What disappointed you about The Bride Collector?

The writing and the narrator were both big misses for me.

What was most disappointing about Ted Dekker’s story?

Maybe I could have tolerated the writing, but the narrator's reading of the story on top of the writing made the whole experience unbearable.

Would you be willing to try another one of John Glover’s performances?

I will always give a narrator a second chance, but I will listen to the preview very carefully as well as read listener reviews.

Nicely narrated, sappy ,half researched thriller.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

It's terribly close to a "Penny Novel" ...the ones you can buy at Gelson's in the Magazine Section. So...elderly, lonely ladies I guess.

What could Ted Dekker have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Better research and much, much, much less repetitions and explanations about things he'd just clearly explained.

What does John Glover bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He has a nice voice.

Any additional comments?

The book starts out promising and completely deteriorates in the second half. Totally murky message too. Oh well... nice narration it was.

The Bride Collector

THE ABSOLUTELY WORST BOOK I HAVE EVER DOWNLOADED FROM AUDIBLE!!!! The writing is terrible, none of the characters are likable and the person who is reading the book is awful. It is torture to listen to, and I have chosen not to finish the book. I really gave it a try. Don't waste your money or your time. If I could give it less than one star I would.

The Bride Collector

This book was so far-fetched with unbelievable characters that I can't believe I wasted my time listening to the entire book. I kept thinking it would get better &/or more believable. Don't waste your time or money on this book.
