Koontz-style writer

Any additional comments?

This book is fast-paced and keeps you listening. Dekker's stories seem similar to Koontz-type stories with a more philisophical Christian focus. The writing (at least in this particular book) didn't feel quite as mature as a Koontz book. By this, I mean the characters and dialogue weren't quite as developed and felt more simple; however, the overall idea Dekker illustrated through his story felt well thought out and was intriguing. I look forward to listening to this story again now that I see the big concept Dekker explores in it.

Excellency

super thrilling with twists all along! A stunning peek into another world and a study of the mind, good, and evil.

Skin

This book keeps you wondering what is going on and why. Makes for a good book all the way around. Ending is not what I expected either. Thank-you Ted Dekker.

The good and the bad

I hard a hard time getting into the story. The first half felt drawn out, which made it hard to comit to finishing. But, I paid for this book and I'm gonna see it through. Half way through, the story, pace, and tone shift. It felt like a different book. More engaging and evenly paced. The performance of the Audio book was good. He did an excellent job differentiating voices of characters, but felt unexpressive at times.

So push through the first half, and you'll be rewarded with a good mystery story the second half. Perhaps a Ying and Yang, good and evil framework...

Another great Ted Dekker book

Ted Dekker keeps you glued to the book from the first chapter. I love his ability to keep you in suspense from the get go. Would highly recommend this book, this is one of the very few books I've read/listened to multiple times.

Dissapointing...

Would you be willing to try another one of Adam Verner’s performances?

No.

Any additional comments?

I have enjoyed several of Dekker's earlier works but this title was absolutely horrendous. I could not even make it through the first few chapters of the book. The storyline and plot were weak. The characters were generic, redundant and unbelievable. The dialogue had me rolling my eyes and what made it even less palatable was the narrator's voice. Dekker is an incredible writer, however, he should slow down and focus on quality and less quantity.

Very Frustrated

I was really disappointed with this book I have enjoyed other books by Ted Dekker but was not pleased after listening for hours with the ending

Couldn't make it through the book

I really enjoyed Dekker's earlier works, but his newer works have been a let-down. I couldn't even make it all the way through Skin. The dialog was just too painful. It was cheesy and unrealistic. Also, the plot (at least as far as I got) seemed to be very derivative of House, the book he wrote with Frank Peretti. Dekker needs to slow down and put more thought into his books and stop trying to put out several novels in a year.
