Publisher's summary

An Amazon Charts and USA Today bestseller.

Gina Royal is the definition of average—a shy Midwestern housewife with a happy marriage and two adorable children. But when a car accident reveals her husband’s secret life as a serial killer, she must remake herself as Gwen Proctor—the ultimate warrior mom.

With her ex now in prison, Gwen has finally found refuge in a new home on remote Stillhouse Lake. Though still the target of stalkers and Internet trolls who think she had something to do with her husband’s crimes, Gwen dares to think her kids can finally grow up in peace.

But just when she’s starting to feel at ease in her new identity, a body turns up in the lake—and threatening letters start arriving from an all-too-familiar address. Gwen Proctor must keep friends close and enemies at bay to avoid being exposed—or watch her kids fall victim to a killer who takes pleasure in tormenting her. One thing is certain: she’s learned how to fight evil. And she’ll never stop.

i liked it - really kept my interest

Good character development and interesting story. One negative, to me, was that she hit every politically correct note possible. These notes did not add to the story and were not germane to the story but seemed to be just added to satisfy a check list. She is, however, a good story teller. The narrator was good but not spectacular.

So great

Could not put this down. Great buddy read with Mary Beth. 4 stars because the ending was great but a bit unbelievable. Going straight onto the next.

Different twist

Serial killer stories are a dime a dozen today. Stillhouse Lake stands out as a unique point of view. The effect on the killer’s family is explored. Social media’s negative and ultimately terrifying influence on their lives increases the dangers that must be faced. A great read.

Amazing Read!

This book was a great story from beginning to end. There were twists and turns throughout the entire book, which kept me reading and never wanting to put the book down. The characters are well developed and leave you rooting for them to be safe and live happily ever after. At the end of the book, the author sets up for the second book which is also a great book. I can't wait for the third book to come out!

A strong woman

The book was exciting and keeps you wondering who's good and who's bad. I enjoyed it right up to the end and can't wait to start the next one.

Kept me on the edge of my seat...

I thought that this was a great book that kept you guessing. Reading was done very well. My only lower rating was that the end clearly leaves you with the need to get the next book.

Twisted—-And good!

The twists are fabulous and juicy. Story line is well thought out and executed. Gwen is great, human with flaws, misgivings and amazing. Characters are well written.
The narrator is perfect and I look forward to the next book.
Could have done without the explicit language or at least so much of it. I get it . Staying true to the emotional upheaval but would have preferred a lot less.
