Publisher's Summary

A shocking thriller by the bestselling author of Girls of Glass.

It seems like an open-and-shut case for FBI special agent Lucy Thorne when Eliza Cook walks into the field office. The teenage girl confesses to murdering a young boy. Disturbingly composed, she reveals chilling details only the killer could know. Beyond that Eliza doesn't say another word, leaving a vital question met with dead silence: Why did she do it?

To find the answer, Lucy goes to the scene of the crime in the small Idaho town of Knox Hollow. But Lucy's questions are only mounting. Especially when she’s drawn deeper into the life of the victim. Then a combing of the woods yields unsettling evidence that Eliza isn't the only one in this close-knit rural community with secrets.

Getting to the truth is becoming Lucy's obsession. And it's a dangerous one. Because for the good folks of Knox Hollow, hiding that truth will take more than silence.

Good psychological thriller.

A young girl confesses to murder then clams up. FBI Agent, Lucy Thorne, doesn’t believe that she has the full story and heads to the small town to investigate. Somehow this case is related to one of her cold cases. Half truths, a closed-off religious community, another missing girl...and discovered human remains. No one wants to believe that a serial killer has been living in the small town but Lucy intends to get to the truth. The story starts off slowly but glad that I stuck with it! Worth the read/listen.

Haunting and Thrilling

This book keeps you guessing and keeps you on the edge throughout it. I love psychological thrillers and Brianna Labuskes’ thrillers are top notch! This book certainly got added to the list of my favorites!
There is an overwhelming sense of sadness that accompanies this book. Living in a cult warped the thinking and the lives of these people. A twisted tail FF or certain. The narrator, Karen Peakes did a terrific job also!

Wait....what?

The premise and overall idea of this story was great - but the execution of it was terrible. The way the author bounces back and forth between characters and timelines is too quick and often confusing. I’m not even entirely sure who the last words belonged to..

Excellent voice acting

The narration really made this book shine. Peaked is able to create clearly different characters which I've heard others struggle to do. Could tell each character solely by her acting. The story was a bit slow and consistently stays that way.

Magnificent Read

The ending was not what I expected. Does that make me an inadequate detective or the author an extraordinary writer? I'd say the latter. Looking forward to reading more books by Brianna Labuskes.
