Publisher's Summary

The lot of an SAS man is not always a happy one.

Strikeback hero John Porter is sent on a mission with Regimental scallywag John Bald. Where Porter plays it by the book, Bald will always want to break the rules. They are sent to Sierra Leone to extract Ronald Soames, a former CEO of the Regiment and now right-hand man to the President. But when Porter and Bald arrive, the Englishman has disappeared, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake.

Rebels are threatening to take over the country and its diamond mines - and to massacre all foreigners. Porter and Bald find themselves fighting shoulder to shoulder with the Regiment psychopath, who is already embedded in the country. But it soon becomes clear that the Firm has lied to them about the true nature of the mission.

What seems at first to be a battle to control Sierra Leone's diamond mines will turn out to be about a much greater evil - and with a trail that leads back to both Westminster and the Kremlin.

Not his best book

I've listened to all his stories as well as Andy mcnabs. This story carries on from his last novel but is just lacking in places. However I may just be spoiled as his other works are brilliant. So even if this is your first. Listen to the ready to make your own mind up.

Brutal

More brutal than your normal war fiction maybe not for everyone but it is a good read.

Strike Back Thursdays..

I look forward to hearing the next offering to the series. After getting introduced to the tele series I was eager to read Chris Ryan's books, but due to a hectic schedule, I'm glad to have found it on Audible.

Absolutely loved it. Fast paced, felt like I was there.

One of those audiobooks where if you listen to it whilst driving, you wish the drive was longer so you could listen to more! Great characters, someone to like someone to hate and lots of action.

Good old action packed tale!

Action packed story with some ghastly personalities & horrific details.
If you enjoy this genre it's great.
I would say that Porter & his endless aching for alcohol is a tad boring though.
Story ending is unexpected if you have not been attentive.
